010 was a year in which American influence waned, as others stepped in to the vacuum. While we did nothing to prevent Iranian development of nuclear weapons, the Israelis introduced a computer virus that perhaps set back Iranian ambitions by two years. We ended the year with an ill-conceived START treaty that ensures Russian dominance with tactical nuclear weapons. What will President Obama's foreign policy be in 2011? Here are 11 predictions you can take to the (world) bank.
1) President Obama will bow deeply to a falafel stand owner, mistaking him for a wealthy Gulf Emirate potentate. Upon being told of his mistake, President Obama will apologize on behalf of himself and his country.
2) President Obama will blame Israel for the coming war with Hezbollah in Southern Lebanon. After all, why won't the Israelis allow Iran to build a client state on Israel's Northern border as they have in the Gaza Strip on Israel's Western border?
3) Iran will move closer to a nuclear bomb, and President Obama will not notice when the Arab Middle East either gives in to Persian dominance, or build their own nukes. Either way, disaster looms.
4) Latin America will continue to drift out of our orbit and into Russia's, China's and Iran's. Did anyone notice that a majority of Latin America is about to acquiesce to Iran and recognize a non-existent Palestinian state?
5) Speaking of which, the Palestinians will break their agreement under the Oslo Accords and push more states for official recognition, leading to a unilateral declaration of statehood. The terror-state will be recognized by President Obama.
6) Iran will start building a second Panama Canal, this one in Nicaragua with the help of Sandinista leader and noted child-molester Daniel Ortega.
7) China will grab islands ...
