It's too easy to make old duffers choke up and tear up, especially around Christmas.

Me, being the strong man that I am, would never cry over a story like this, but I did get some dust in my eyes, never had that happen in my den before.

Merry Christmas.

Puts those trying to diminish Christmas because it’s a religious holiday, in perspective. They don’t get it. Americans have morphed Christmas beyond a miraculous birthday into a season of giving, of thinking of others, and a time for charity. This story helps you “get it.”

As I read the story, I thought to myself, this is what America was at one time.

Then you gave the title: “A Land Called America”.

Thanks for posting. One can only hope that the spirit of that story still exists in our country today.

That is a beautiful story and if we just look around, we will see needs that we can fill as well. It really is more blessed to give than to receive and when you can make a difference in someones life, give them comfort and hope, it will make you feel good too.

It is nice to be on a blog where we think alike, mostly. And we can lift each other up once in a while.

Free Republic isn't a blog.
