Sexism? Atheists and Feminists Clash
There have always been clashes between Camp Feminist and Camp Atheist. Still, a recent post on Ms. magazines blog has highlighted just how bitter intellectual wars can become. From the feminist Monica Shores:
If youve been following the rise of so-called New Atheism movement, you may have noticed that it sure looks a lot like old religion. The individuals most commonly associated with contemporary atheismRichard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Daniel Dennett and Victor Stengerare all male, white and, well, kinda old (69, 61, 68 and 75). Sam Harris, another popular figure who bears mention, has the distinction of being in his early 40s.
Granted, one isn't sure what Monica Shores and her sisters think old religion is (ex-slave Moses, the Jewish guy, married an African, I'm told). Still, her larger point is worth noting, and the feminist magazine is right to raise the atheist-men-are-not-beyond-accountability questions.

Ideas are more important than the gender of the one with the idea. Ins’t that what the feminists have been cackling all along?

Pretty simple exercise in social observation, if you view it from afar and understand the underlying POV of the parties involved. Both sides, regardless of their motivations, reject certain Judeo-Christian values imparted by history and cultural heritage, while utilizing other parts of it as underpinnings of their respective dogmas. I can't argue that either side is completely wrong 100% of the time (above the lack of faith in God and his Word); I can say only say that both may infrequently personify the idiom that even a blind squirrel occasionally finds a nut. Too bad they are so myopic as not to see it for what it is, beyond just being a nut.

"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."

I can't be sure which; but, isn't there a paradox, or a non sequitur lurking in there somewhere?

Heh. This is like watching the Battle of Stalingrad. It doesn’t matter which side “wins.”

I could never understand a movement based around something that doesn’t exist....kind of like the “there’s no Easter Bunny crowd” WAY too much spare time on their hands

Hell, if I know what feminists want. Dont know if they do either perhaps a good manly man, will do the trick.

Hehehe it always goes back to nuts (especially with feminists).

Hahaha point taken. Atheism and feminism arent always the best friends of intellectualism (although there are a few knowledgeable nuts in the mix).
I actually agreed with feminist Germaine Greer, for example, when she stood against cross-dressing professors. And I agreed with atheist Peter Singers pro-torture arguments to stop terrorists.

Interesting point. Meanwhile, enjoy the show!

I can't be sure which; but, isn't there a paradox, or a non sequitur lurking in there somewhere? More like an oxymoron.
Cheers!

That's why the feminists hate Palin -- they secretly want Todd for themselves, they hate her for being attractive enough to have landed and kept him, and they hate themselves that their "intellectual" attainments are not enough to land anything more than unshaved bull-dyke lesbians or tofu-grazing metrosexual men.
Intellectualism is the opiate of the outcasts.
Cheers!
