Boy, you got that one right. There's a huge diffence between being a good candidate and a good lawmaker.
We're all losing sight of the huge role primaries play in the political process. The Republicans in Delaware had a huge decision to make. Being an arch conservative, I would probably gone with O'Donnell, too, but I would have had to realize it came with high risk.
Rove is a political ANALYST for FOX--and a darned good one. I love his using his board to show what is likely to happen. Last night he was showing how Republicans are likely to pick up some of Obama's electoral votes. It was music to my ears but if he had shown Obama is likely to win again, I would not have blamed the messenger for the bad news. He was only reporting what he thinks is likely to happen.
The guy's loyalty to the Republican party cannot be questioned. He looks at the big picture.
It’s not a matter of trust. I believe he was giving his assessment. I don’t disagree with your opinion of his assessment, although I do think he was quite correct that she was a flawed, questionable candidate who had no real chance of winning.
And it is funny to me that people who scream about how some democrat operative gets to be on TV and always seems to just say nice things about democrats instead of “doing their job”, and get all excited on those occasions where a known democrat tells the truth about a democrat don’t understand the concept when it comes to a republican.
Rove is being paid for his opinion, and we don’t like his opinion, but it does appear to be his true opinion.
What i mean is I don’t think he was lying about his opinion of her just to hurt her. I think he was convinced that the voters had chosen a person who was flawed and could not win, and that Castle could have won.
I also presume he was friends with Castle, and he was probably expressing that friendship. He also could have been upset at the way some supporters of O’Donnell had attacked Castle with false personal attacks like the whole homosexual thing (which did not come from O’Donnell).
If you look at information about her, she did have a lot of negatives, things that raised serious issues. Her supporters largely chose to ignore those issues, a few tried to dismiss them entirely. But ignoring or dismissing them doesn’t make them go away.
And I don’t think anybody doubts that Rove represents a different part of the republican establishment than the tea party. He was the architect of compassionate conservatism. But he wasn’t a political ideologist ever, he was a political operative, whose job was to get people elected, not run a think tank.
That’s why it’s so easy for conservatives to go from “Rove, you Magnificent Bastard” to “Rove, you Bastard”. The man didn’t change — just whether his operation was liked or disliked by the conservatives.
I was glad to see it happen, too. Even conservatives who still admire Rove [I can’t imagine there are many, but to each his own] should keep it within bounds. The banned individual was just stirring the pot by posting repeated vanities about Rove’s greatness, wisdom and overall amazingness. If ever a zot was merited, this was the case (imho).
I’ve said it before - Rove is a GOP equivalent to Hillary Clinton - we don’t have to like him, but never discount him.
So Rove endorsed O’Donnell before he trash mouthed and smeared her on National News. Now I get it.
It sounds like you agree with me that he went to far, Karl is dead to me now. I will not watch him anymore and I will not support any candidate who hires him. I am not the only one.
I'm old and I'm slow!!
(grin)
Thanks for the info.
What kind of support are you talking about, MONEY? You think money would have helped her, like..it helped Meg Whitman? Like..it helped Sharron Angle? Tell me, I’m very interested.
Money? Hell no. The funds went pouring in for her.
What she needed was the GOP talking about how much better she would be for DE. You know, as opposed to joining the leftists in marginalizing her, talking about her as if she were stupid, or some whacked out, ex-witch, anti-masturbator.
But hey. DE got another communist. So the Dems and the RINOs are happy.
You know, I played the GOP game for two decades. I thought we had to support them in order to keep socialists/communists from power. And I also thought that it was better to support a liberal Republican than a conservative whatever who had no chance of winning.
I don’t play that game anymore.
The left and the liberal GOPers are destroying this nation.
I will only support conservative candidates who understand what is at stake.
He does not care what we think- he is not running for anything except for a job with the next big Republican thing. I agree with him about O’Connell, but he needs to let it go. Does he realize Repubs picked up an ENORMOUS amount of seats in DC and in the statehouses? Yet, he goes on and on about DE. Why? I suspect he has some ego, but he would not be the first in politics to have a problem with an enormous ego.
Why then is this post here?
Mr. Moderator....please remove this post at once.
FR is now and forever shall be "Rove-less".
“tried to tell folks here back in the very bitter amnesty and Harriet war on this forum with the harpies and their lackeys that Rove was a problem
on deaf ears
well...we were right ...how about that?
that goes for Ed Gillespie too”
Bump that!
