WMD Found in Iraq
BattleSwarm ^

Posted on 10/24/2010 10:04:06 AM PDT by Ira_Louvin

WMD Found in Iraq According to the latest batch of Wikileak documents. In particular, coalition troops kept coming across numerous artillery shells filled with mustard gas.

Remember the terms of Section 8 of UN resolution 687 that ended the first Gulf War:

Iraq shall unconditionally accept the destruction, removal, or rendering harmless, under international supervision, of:

(a) All chemical and biological weapons and all stocks of agents and all related subsystems and components and all research, development, support and manufacturing facilities

Thus the instance of a single chemical weapon in Iraq violates the terms that ended the Gulf War, and thus the decision by George W. Bush to carry out the liberation of Iraq in 2003 was both legal and justifiable. (This is in addition to the other numerous instances of jus ad bellum cited by Bush in his speech on that reasons behind that decision.)

Liberals, look at yourself in the nearest mirror and repeat after me: “George W. Bush was right and I was wrong. George W. Bush was right and I was wrong.”

Not for nothing....my gut tells me they had them and my gut also tells me that he would have collaborated with Usama, i.e., Saddam would be the maker of the WMD and Usama had folks to deliver it. Kinda makes you think of Anthrax...

I'll go back to what that one jerky inspector said: "If they don't show us where they are, we'll never find them". No need for such a statement UNLESS he believed they had them. We know Saddam had dual use manufacturing plants and the inspector verified it many times.

You know, there were actually news articles about some of these at the time—carefully downplayed and eventually scrubbed. Some of us still have them archived on our personal computers. Lots of us knew about this all along, but the Bush admin let the ‘Rats run with the lies that there were not WMD.

President Bush did a poor job in getting information such as this out to the public. One of his glaring weaknesses was to take too many punches from the left and not strike back.

Time will bring about a total vindication of Dubya on this one too.

That sarin and mustard gas shells were found in Iraq is pretty well known. All you need to do is search Sarin Mustard Iraq to find old stories on this:

http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy&hl=en&q=Sarin+mustard+Iraq&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&pbx=1&fp=956ab502b015b9a1

You may find even more if you google Iraq and each type of gas alone. But you are banging your head against the wall, the left and particularly the left media do not letf facts get in the way of their narrative.

Under Saddam, the early years, his military did not color code the WMD. Thus the Incident at Khamisayah....March,1991.

Bush had to be a little gun shy, having already been so screwed by faulty intelligence.

Besides, these shells never constituted the stockpiles that we expected to find.

We know the reason now for the intelligence failure ...Saddam Hussein himself. He was behind the false stories to keep Iran in check. He just never counted on Bush kicking his ass.

He sure paid for that mistake.

I agree. I love George W., and I think he was a great President for the times that we were (and are) in. Remember, he was a clean and fresh contrast to Clinton and his scandals. He was soon made a wartime president, and he did an outstanding job of defending this country. But, he didn’t speak up to defend himself as much as he should have when he was personally attacked...especially toward the end of his presidency.

Of course there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, and, of course Saddam was thumbing his nose at the treaty. Bush did the right thing to go into Iraq, and the liberal media had a field day attacking him. They would have attacked any decision he made in order to gain power for themselves. He just needed to defend himself more. Perhaps he felt that he did what he had to do, and that time and history would vindicate his decisions.

The most dangerous WMDs Saddam's regime was certain to have had was VX nerve gas. In particular theirs was based on the precursor EMPTA. Of the countries that produced VX nerve gas Iraq was the only country known to have used that method.

The presence of EMPTA was deemed so serious it was enough for President Clinton to order an attack on the Sudanese Al-Shifa pharmaceutical factory in 1998. If this batch of Wikileak material reveals they found any EMPTA or VX it will be very interesting.

"Revelations that Saddam moved some of his WMDs and hardware out of the country were further confirmed by Demetrius Perricos, acting chairman of UN Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC), who disclosed that his inspectors had been tracking shipments of illicit Iraqi WMD components around the world.

The Associated Press announced that UNMOVIC inspectors have found dozens of engines from banned al-Samoud 2 (SA2) missiles, which were shipped out of Iraq as "scrap metal."

(Bio-Chemical Weapons & Saddam: A History.) Various Sources | 02-20-03 | PsyOp

I do not have the source of the following, it was a letter from a GI to his father:

He said that there were caches all over the place, buildings filled to the ceiling with boxes of small-arms ammo, equipment, including new chemical-warfare suits, as well as old Gulf War I ammo strewn around the desert areas.

American ordnance experts have stated that there were at least 10,000 such sites that they found (so far), spread across a country the size of California, and no one knows how much material, possibly including weapons of mass destruction (chemical, biological, nuclear) might still lie beneath the sands there. Some planes were found buried under the sand while one photo my son brought back showed a MIG-25 parked in a cornfield; another in the driveway of someone's house.

The total estimated weight of the Iraqi arms caches so far has been calculated to be two and a half times that of the total arms in the whole United States, some 1 million tons or more.

Now that a major from the 3rd has come forward and explained that his small unit had hauled away about 210 tons (quite possibly including some of the claimed 270 tons) for destruction at a designed ordnance handling site, Sen. Kerry began to slink away like a coward in the night, never apologizing to the brave American soldiers of the 3rd and the 101st/82nd Airborne who had fought and then guarded those sites during their stays there.

The American press did what our enemies could not, they destroyed our Military Veracity with out and out lies....the Soros Propaganda Machine and the Anti-American politicians are still doing their best to destroy America now under a vile Socialist/Marxist president and a vicious congress.

VOTE THESE BUMS OUT IN NOVEMBER!

People rarely make giant mistakes for only one reason. You pointed out Saddam’s mistake. The WMD’s he did have were either buried or sent to Syria. The whole world knows it. but the left ignores it and Bush allowed that. That was one of the causes of his failure.

The whole world knows it. but the left ignores it and Bush allowed that.

I'm hoping GWB addresses it in his book. I've always believed that the Russians were up to their necks in getting the WMD out of Iraq to hide their complicity with Saddam. That might have affected what info Bush could have made available.

Bush had the annoying habit of doing what was the best for the nation rather than what was best for himself politically.

All the serious chemical weapons shipped out to Syria before the war started.

Everyone knows he had mustard gas artillery shells, that was not the WMD they were looking for and Bush would not have invaded Iraq over those.

Now if they had found advanced biological weapons or tactical nukes that would be another issue entirely.
