Welcome Juan Williams. You are the latest citizen of Imusville. And by Imusville, I mean a place where people who make their living talking end up when their buddies on the left forget the First Amendment and sacrifice them on the altar of political correctness.
And yes, I submit the Williams-Imus comparison is valid because at the time of his firing, Don Imus was about five years into an exploration of his inner liberal.
More on that later.
As you might remember, Imus was canned for an impolitic bit on his show about Rutgers women basketball players being "nappy headed hos." Thus he was canned by MSNBC and the CBS Radio network, both of whom were carrying his show at the time. And in the prop wash of this event, Imus was defended only by those on the right -- while liberals either piled on or remained silent on the sidelines. We are still not sure if anyone in the Rutgers women's program had actually ever heard of Don Imus before the incident.
And we are witnessing the same thing in the Juan Williams NPR dust up, with liberal NPR doubling down on the move while conservative talkers are coming out of the woodwork to support Williams. Where are Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton? Hassling white Duke lacrosse players?
Now back to Imus's "inner liberal."
What is so striking about the Imus incident is that he was squashed by the very people he had been drifting shamelessly towards politically over a period of years. He was moving a bit more leftward almost daily. It really picked up speed after he married a tree hugging liberal -- but much younger and less wrinkled -- wife.
He may never admit it, but Don Imus had changed a lot.

Thus the Democommie decks are being cleared for action.
It will be civil war.
Ironically, Williams was one of those who piled on.
Juans a really nice guy but I cant stand people who drive down the center of road while parsing their words under the guise of some self serving, egalitarian, patronage, when they are most sincerely more comfortable on their side of the road.
Nope, you drive down the center of the road and eventually theres going to be one hell of an accident.
“Thus the Democommie decks are being cleared for action.”
Yes, the closet Marxist are coming out of the closet, and the polite liberals of the past are being forced to join their Commie pals, or cut bait.
It is sad to watch the “young skulls full of mush”, who
were born after the wall was torn down, fall for the Marxist ideology. They seem to have no clue as to what life is like under Communism.
They learn about Communism in college liberal indoctrination centers.
IMUS did not support Juan this morning.
I guess the old drunk has an enemies list filled with anyone who criticized him for calling the girls on the Rutgers basketball team nappy headed ho’s.
There is no comparison between IMUS dumbass comments and Juan’s comments.
“They learn about Communism in college liberal indoctrination centers.”
Yes, as well as in public grade schools.
They are not, however, taught that it is imprisonment, as well as murder of the free spirit.
Not a post to you.
Juan has a future.
Yep! Like my old Dad always said, “Dance the tune and you will pay the piper.”
Also he’s on Fox.
Juan’s firing was a message from the Godfather of Communism, George “The Prince of Darkness” Soros whose major media target is the destruction of Fox News.
The greater danger to the Republic comes the old reactionary yippie dope smoking Communist trash from the 1960s who now control most of our federal government.
The restoration of limited government must be accompied by mass firings of these dangerous parasites for all positions of authority in the Republic.
The comical part of this story is that in Imus’s case....you knew the moment that he said his piece...that he’d be terminated...it was a question of one hour or two hours before management had the lawyer discussion and then called him. But in Juan’s case....I didn’t hear anything worth firing him...and the dimwitted CEO wasted 36 hours before contacting Juan to reach this point.
To be honest...after watching the 3-minute piece by NPR’s CEO....I think she’d be great working with BP. She gave me the impression that they really need a press spokesperson speaking for the company and not her.
And that's why he won't be another Bernie Goldberg.
They got rid of Imus so they could put on Morning Joe. On the Joe Show they control everything and Joe follows his White House orders perfectly.
Whenever the left gets someone fired for saying something, it’s because he revealed a truth that the left desperately wants to hide.
Looks like some victim groups are more victims than others. The absolute top of the list victim group is the jihadis. Can someone tell me when the jihadis were captured and forced to be slaves?
Fortunately for Juan, Fox has stepped up and given him more responsibilities.
The best part is his $2million contract and so all is well. He was never going get that kind of loot from NPR.
Brilliant essay..thanks for posting..BTW..anyone know how Imus’ mornign show on Fox Business is doing ratings-wise?..I’ve never seen it.
