Obama’s Radical Past
National Review ^ | 10-12-10 | Stanley Kurtz

Posted on 10/12/2010 5:05:38 AM PDT by radioone

On the afternoon of April 1, 1983, Barack Obama, then a senior at Columbia University, made his way into the Great Hall of Manhattan’s Cooper Union to attend a “Socialist Scholars Conference.” There Obama discovered his vocation as a community organizer, as well as a political program to guide him throughout his life.

The conference itself was not a secret, but it held a secret, for it was there that a demoralized and frustrated socialist movement largely set aside strategies of nationalization and turned increasingly to local organizing as a way around the Reagan presidency — and its own spotty reputation. In the early 1980s, America’s socialists discovered what Saul Alinsky had always known: “Community organizing” is a euphemism behind which advocates of a radical vision of America could advance their cause without the bothersome label “socialist” drawing adverse attention to their efforts.

I hadn’t even noticed where Kurtz had disappeared to, after doing so much good investigative work during the 2008 campaign. It’s great to see him back—and that he’s done his homework. I hope the fruits of his labor make it into the mainstream, in bite-sized pieces, this time around.

What I don't get is ... why didn't this kind of stuff come out during the campaigning?

We all had an idea he was a commie, but couldn't put our finger on anything particular ... why is it NOW available?

“An amazingly incurious media. “

Or, ‘an amazingly complicit media’.

Two years ago, Stanley Kurtz was getting attacked by the Obama campaign and its minions for exposing Obama’s role with Bill Ayers in the Annenberg Challenge grants fiasco.

why didn't this kind of stuff come out during the campaigning

The same MSM that produced a full dossier on total unknown Joe the plumber Wurzelbacher within 24 hours completely ignored the radical past of Baraq Hussein for 24 months leading up to Nov 08.

Best line in the article:

Knowing the truth about Obama’s past is the best way to safeguard our future.

Yeah, I know. He had his couple of weeks and then he kind of disappeared.
I’m not blaming Kurtz for this fiasco. Every Republican in Washington is to blame for not screaming from the rooftops, the truth that was out there about Obama.

Press fell on job and it took time to connect dots. And voters were entranced with a black candidate.

It did come out during the campaign. Many conservative websites reported it, and Sarah Palin talked about it at her campaign rallies. But major media outlets either suppressed any mention of it outright or simply dismissed it as “crazy talk.”
