When the Tea Party first started out, I was a enthusiastic supporter.. The Tea Party perfectly represented what my views are.. I'm a 100% fiscal conservative and I believe in small government on ALL issues. In the beginning, the Tea Party seemed to be such movement that would support candidates based on FISCAL issues. Initially, that was the case and people like Scott Brown have been elected. However, since then, it seems like the Tea Party Express and other Tea Party organizations have been hijacked by the social conservative wing of the GOP (i.e. Sarah Palin). Social issues were introduced to the movement which has turned people away who also support small government on personal/social issues and not just exclusively small government on fiscal issues. While we all (meaning Tea Party supporters/activists) agree on fiscal issues, there are a variety of views on social issues and introducing social issues to the Tea Party was not a good idea. Recent Tea Party Express endorsements have been exclusively for hardcore social conservatives who support "big government" on social issues. As I'm personally supporting small government on ALL issues (other than those mandated by the constitution - i.e. national defense and border security), I can no longer identify with the candidates who are being endorsed by the Tea Party express as people like Sharon Angle and Christine O'Donnell are clearly supporting a big government role in controlling peoples personal/social lifes. It would be sad if the Tea Party would continue on that path instead of supporting small government on all issues, or at least stay away from social issues Most people in this country are SICK of government control of their lifes.. Most people don't want government to control their money and their personal/social lifes. They don't want to pick and choose on what part of their lifes are controlled by the government!
Frankly, I don’t understand how one can claim to be a fiscal conservative and not be conservative on social issues too. Conservatism is conservatism. Fiscal conservatism and social conservatism go hand in hand.
Social conservative “radicals”?
Really. Interesting description.
Hmmm
They oppose gay marriage, which would causethe federal go ernment to begin payyng benefits to gay partners of federal employees.
They would vote against tax payer funded abortions in military hospitals that is being pushed in Congress right now.
Aren’t those positions consistant with smaller government?
A couple of things spring to mind.
You have encapsulated what is wrong with the GOP. It compromises too much with what is being shoved down our throats. It only ends up being "democrat light." The Tea Party never was part of the GOP and always was a rise of conservatism, especially FISCAL conservatism. Everything else is what has been attributed to it, not what it really is.
Everything you write is a lie, including the words ‘and’ and ‘the’.
NOT FOR ME. I want to WIN. If I insist on a party or movement that consists of only people who have the precise views, goals, intentions, morals, and priorities that I do, I might just end up with a party of one.
The day that the "Tea Party" starts going after pornography, drugs, etc, then I'll start wringing my hands..
Maybe I wasn’t clear enough what I meant.. With social issues, I mean personal issues like abortion rights, gay rights etc. I’m not supporting a single cent of taxpayer money going towards either of those issues BUT I support those liberties. If I’d be in charge, there would be no welfare, there would be no medicaid, no social security and no public schooling. I’m a capitalist and I believe in a system of supply and demand. Government should only pay for national security and everything else should be left to supply and demand.
A concern troll. I mean, he’s ALL in line with us about EVERYTHING... except, gee, he has this one nagging concern....
What part of your life are they trying to control?
It is entirely possible to be both. One of the easiest cases to be made is to defund the Left political machine by ending funding from the Government for such things as Planned Parenthood etc. It is a win-win for Republicans in that it is a move that appeals to both Social and Fiscal Conservatives.
The only people who are worried about the split between Fiscal and Social conservatives are those seeking to created wedges between Conservatives for their own political end
You mean we should be running social moderates like we did in 2006 and 2008? How did that work out for us back then?
Say what? If you didn't have a history on FR I would think you're a troll.

Whoops musta hit post twice. My bad.
Looks like your repeating (or bought) the journolisto meme of the week, i.e. The Tea Party is really the Christian Right in disguise.
Last time I checked Angle and O’Donnell have not used social issues on the campaign trail. The only ones who have are the liberal media, as a way to divide the base.
I know that is really a bitter pill for the 3rd party bots around here to swallow but that is the current political reality.
Anyone busy trying to undermine the tea parties right now is actively working for the 0 Democrats.
The Republic is in danger, we have no time for these sort of back stabbing propaganda plays.
We need to keep our eyes on the ball. Stop the 0 Democrat machine 1st. The rest we can work out after the elections
