AP has released this story (link here), entitled "(Anonymous) Official: Seep found near BP's blown out oil well."
The last open thread where this was being discussed (all throughout, but especially towards the bottom) was http://www.theoildrum.com/node/6745.
Doug Suttles was the BP representative on this morning's (Sunday morning) technical update. Mr. Suttles said that pressure is now at 6,778 psi, and continues to build at one to two psi per hour, and this is encouraging. BP still does not see any problems.
BP now thinks that there is a possibility that the test can continue from now until the well is killed by the relief well, probably in August. But this is not a decision that can be made all at once. Instead, careful monitoring will be continued, and a decision made on a day by day basis. Admiral Allen and government representatives will no doubt be involved in decision making as well.
Mr. Suttles said that when the cap is left on, this is really continued testing, rather than shutting the well in.

Profit oriented rats are still more trustworthy than power grabbing politicians.
If they are so worried why is this 'official' 'anonymous'?! /s
Can anyone check the closest golf courses for a missing president?
Bammy will just have to tell them how to fix it.
The Obama administration wants the well reopened so they can measure the flow for liability purposes. Before oil collection can take place, they would have to let the well run into the Gulf for 3 days.
BP refused and next the government issued this news leak, almost certainly from Thad Allen. He refused to divulge the nature of the seep.
On teh radio they now are saying BP and teh government are on teh same page. I think BP won this round, for now.
It ought to be very controversial to reopen that flow for 3 days unless absolutely necessary.
Dear Leader says not waste a crisis.
Use the relief wells to pump it dry!
Additionally, if the US government really wanted them to open it back up, I sure they could get them to do it. Therefore, the AP report should be questioned.
I won’t rest until the relief wells are known to be working successfully.
All the more reason to pump the hell out of it.
...and Obama and company won’t be happy until the US is destroyed, we’re lined up at red cross trucks, and learn a fancy march past him on the 4th of July - known now as Obama day.
Anonymous Official Expresses Concern about Seeps and Pressure and Open ThreadWhy does an anonymous official have a concern about an open thread?
Layman thought. Engineers had a really good ideal of anticipated pressure. Once capped it was way off but sometime during testing the pressure started rising. I wonder if product was leaking out the casing into some zone then it filled and pressure started rising. The question is where did all the oil go when the pressure was low and will the new “zone” hold all the pressure buildup.
Set up....
Thank you Professor Goose! Sometimes it can be tough to sift through the threads at TOD but appreciate the work that you and the professionals at that site have been doing,
This is the time to be taking out as much oil as possible out of the well. This would take the pressure off the well casing and make the best of the situation with oil now able to be piped up from the well head.
I say the same about “pumping it dry” in post #16. I say, “Pump it! Pump it now!”
It should be a wide open field. Any oil company in the world should be allowed to come in and drill a well. Just pump it dry.
It’s just my gut feeling, but something is horribly wrong with the whole BP oil spill coverage and story line.
I smell really big dead fish here!
At first there where 3 well leaks, then one is capped, and then we see pic of the seconds one, but no accounting of the third one.
No mention of the escaping methane gases. no pics of the overall gulf.
BP is not to be trusted, but The Usurper and CommieCrate Criminals are even less trustworthy. IMHO
