Palin: Mr. President, do you job and secure our border

“The Arizona immigration law mirrors the fed’s own law. It sure would be helpful if the Obama Administration would read the short 10-page bill before laughing about it and condemning it. And it would be helpful if the media would actually read it before twisting reports on its content.

“Log on to securetheborder.org to learn more and show your support for our sister state of Arizona!

“We’re all Arizonans now and we say with clear unity: ‘Mr. President, do your job. Secure our border.’” - Sarah Palin

The truth is that, even if the feds did want to do their jobs, interior enforcement is better done by the state or local police. The feds don’t respond to most crimes, disturbances, drunk drivers, etc. The locals do and the AZ law is the perfect vehicle.

It would be easier to listen to Sarah about this issue if wasn’t for the fact that Alaska was a “sanctuary state” while she was governor. That is what I had heard anyway. Imagine if beautiful Alaska got filled up with mexicans. Now that would be weird.

Isn’t there a mechanism by which a state or local government can force the Feds to enforce a law or meet their obligations? I guess the Founding Fathers thought that it was not necessary to include redress in the Constitution for a time when the government failed to do its job. Just like never occurred to them there would come a day when a presidential candidate would simply refuse to prove where, when and to whom he was born.

What a glaring example of the difference in ethics and principles between the Founding Fathers and today’s crooks that run Congress and the country.

Really?

That must have been some rumor!

Care to provide any evidence that this is true?

Ain’t gonna happen. Obama could enforce the border if he wanted to. He doesn’t need any more laws. He is charged with enforcing the laws on the books, which already prohibit these people from entering our country. He refuses to do so. He’s not going to change his mind because of anything the GOP might say, or even what the American people might say. Even if the GOP takes an overwhelming majority in the next Congress, he’s not going to secure the border. In his mind, it is unconstitutional to secure the border. And even if it weren’t, he would not do so.

Just did some internet research on Alaska. Apparently, the legislature declared the state a sanctuary state in 2003. Sarah was elected in 2006, and according to Lou Dobbs, never weighed in on the issue. So I wonder how many illegal immigrants from Mexico live in Alaska?

First you say it’s a fact, but then you say it was just something you heard. My, your definition of “fact” is very lax.

Here’s a REAL fact for you. Alaska is NOT a “sanctuary state.” The state legislature in 2003, fully three years before Sarah Palin was even elected governor, passed a resolution that would have, if resolutions had the force of law, made Alaska a sanctuary state. But in Alaska, legislative resolutions do NOT have the force of law. So, again, Alaska is not a sanctuary state.

Don’t fall for leftist lies. Take Reagan’s advice and “verify.”

True, but you never solve a problem or fix something that is wrong by keeping your mouth shut about it and sitting on your hands.

At least she put him on the spot and effectively shut him up with his pontificating about the new AZ law.

I did not save the links. Here is one of them:

But now that I read it again, it says it’s not clear whether she weighed in.

Yes it is called a writ of mandamus, a court ordering a government agency to do its job. Failure to comply can lead to contempt of court. Problem is that shysters might get in the way and get the government off the hook.

Josh Painter pointed out that while the legislature did indeed pass a resolution in ‘03 which would have made Alaska a sanctuary state, but in Alaska, resolutions don’t have the force of law. So Alaska may not be a sanctuary state.

Correct.
But we still have to secure our borders, to stop the relentless invasion of illegals, drug dealers, killers to invade this country.
It's a total outrage that 0bama has left the borders open for the horrible violence in Mexico to spill over into this country. Phoenix is currently the kidnap capital of America. Why? Because almost 100% of all the kidnappings in Phoenix are done by Mexican illegals. What kind of nonsensde is this? We have a government that refuses to protect this country, because 0bama wants more Mexican illegals here to vote illegally for his re-election in 2012.

More likely in his mind, every illegal Mexican that walks through the borders is a potential illegal, fraudulent vote for him in 2012. That's all he cares about, winning in 2012. And the country can go to hell as far as he is concerned.

The border is like a gauntlet. Run it or overstay a visa and get to the interior and you’re home-free.
