The 19th Amendment, Was it the Beginning of the End for America?
The Way One Vike Sees it ^ | 3/2/10 | OV

From the day the founding Fathers risked their liberty and life by signing the Declaration of Independence, there has been those who have wanted to sink this great ship called the United States of America. Well 143 years later the good ship America took a torpedo hit that at the time seemed like just another glancing blow. What many still consider the greatest step forward in equality for the sexes, was more then just a glancing blow however. It was in fact a deadly strike that entered the very heart of the ship and has been smoldering since. The damage caused by the 19th amendment was not noticeable at first, but after 90 years we can now see how complete the destruction was.

Thanks to the 19th amendment, we now have the same kind of Marxists running America that Ronald Reagan defeated from the Soviet Union. However the weapon of destruction used was not a nuclear warhead, no it was an emotional outburst that melted the brains of logic. On August 18, 2010 it will have been 90 years since the 19th amendment was ratified and became the law of the land. In those 90 years, America has gone from a God fearing Christian nation to a sadistic society that would make the founding fathers turn over in their graves. In my opinion, the icing on the cake was the day we witnessed Barack Obama getting elected President. So now we are confronted with the situation that almost every important issue facing the country comes down to an argument between an emotional feeling and a logical thought.

I use the contrasting difference between logic vs emotion because in our society today we are constantly confronted with situations that pit logic against emotions. I readily admit that throughout history mankind has struggled with properly defining the line separating logic and emotion when it comes to certain aspects of life. However, we now live in a society that is almost completely ruled by emotion. Case in point would be the parents in America that are routinely brought up on child abuse charges for spanking their children. When you raise a child it is logical and normal to slap their hands or spank their behind when they do bad things or act unruly in public. It is illogical and out of control emotions that lead to laws where such parental responsibility and Biblical teachings are now considered criminal acts of child abuse. It's my opinion that the blame for such emotionally out of control laws are a direct result of women getting the right to vote.

Now, I am not advocating that women should be barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen. Nor do I think that the 19th amendment should be overturned. I bring this up more as a logical analysis of what I consider to be the number one cause of our current troubles in America today. Besides, even if I were to advocate the repealing of the 19th amendment, it would be easier to hold back the waters of the Nile. I also admit that there are many women who think more rational and logical then some men do, just compare Barney Frank to Ann Coulter. Consider for a moment, one of the biggest political blunders that led to our current economic malaise. You must conclude that it is simply illogical to......

This is a long read, but it's a good read. Regardless of which side you come down on you are bound to have an opinion.

Being a woman, I have always said that this country screwed up when it gave us the right to vote because way too many of my female friends continually vote with their hearts and not their heads. Like Ann Coulter I would gladly give up my right to vote if we could take it away from the rest of the women of America. Then I don't think we would ever see another Democrat elected to congress, let alone the White House.

That was it. Nixon didn’t help either. Women had a voice to share with their husbands. Women many times were the voice of reason when tensions in the political world came to a head. All of that was removed. We are left with the aftermath.

IMO the 17th amendment was the beginning of the end.

I’d argue the Republic died the day the 17th Amendment was enacted; no longer did the States have a direct say in the Nation’s capital (the People being represented by the Representatives, the Government by the Executive).

The only reason 90% of leftist women are in Congress or this administration is the 19trh. Pelosi, Boxer, H.R.H. Clinton, that yaping head of pubic hair from Florida, the list goes on...

I appreciate your honesty.

I’m divided on the issue. On the one hand, the order of creation and the consistency of the Bible calls for men to be the leaders. But on the other hand, if a nation that once derived its freedom based on the Gospel of Jesus Christ, then walks away from that very principle: the 19th Amendment would not have mattered.

In either case, it certainly doesn’t undermine the importance that women have for the health of society, and the church for that matter.

You could get rid of the First Amendment easier than you could the 19th.

It created a major division that was never needed in the first place. It was Satan’s little start. Kill the family.

I actually made the argument a while back to a lady friend of mine that giving women the vote actually gave them a disproportionate amount of power, because when men were only voting, women still had a lot of influence over their men and therefore were influencing votes. The proof, in my opinion, is the fact that the 19th passed in the first place. Giving them the vote meant they got a vote AND influence over the votes of weaker-minded men.

So my lady friend doesn't say anything about it at the time, but doesn't talk to me for a good two weeks, after which she calls me up out of the blue and says "Did you really mean that?" I said "Mean what?" "That women shouldn't vote." Turns out she was stomping mad about that to the point of wanting to cry and end our friendship. After she told me that, I said, "So you've been mad about a silly conversation we had two weeks ago? Well, there's another reason women shouldn't vote."

So two weeks go by...

The beginning of the end was the 16th amendment (Income Tax). With no limit on what the Federal Government could take from your labors, the rest of the Constitution was essentially made meaningless. The only real surprise is that the contradiction in values it entailed has taken so long to bring us to this sad point. The Constitution is also unlimited in the amount of debt it can accumulate. That was a mistake from day one but unavoidable due to the costs of the Revolution.

By the way I think a good cure to the problem of liberal women voting would have been to restrict the vote solely to veterans.

I understand, but it’s not my article. I just posted it. Another freeper named OneVike wrote it. Being a woman I am not limited by the emasculation you men feel.

IMO the 17th amendment was the beginning of the end.

Agreed. And of course the amendment immediately before it.

It’s not emasculation honey. The reason there is no safety anymore is the government has felt the need to take it over. That is due to the destruction of the family head. It is quite easy to understand. It will not correct now.
