Former Vice President Dick Cheney chose not to run for president in 2008 but his daughter suggested that he might be a good candidate in 2012. Appearing on Fox News Sunday, Liz Cheney dropped the former vice president's name as the panel was discussing President Barack Obama's decision to respect the Japanese Emperor by bowing during a formal greeting.
Fox News felt compelled to cover Obama bow to Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko after conservative blogs attacked the president. "Sarah Palin would not have bowed to the Emperor of Japan. She wouldn't have even curtsied to him," said Bill Kristol.
But for Liz Cheney, Palin wasn't the only answer to replacing a president that would dare to pay respect to a foreign leader. "You can look at the comparison and think Cheney 2012," teased Cheney. It wasn't clear if Dick Cheney's daughter was joking but the Fox panel seemed warm to the idea.
"That's all I'm going to say," she said.
Kristol, who has long been an advocate for Sarah Palin, had an even better idea. "Cheney/Palin," he suggested.
"Or Palin/Cheney. Don't be sexist," replied Chris Wallace.

Shows you how much I know. Maybe she was talking about her sister Mary???
The baggage she would have [from the left] is being Dick Cheney's daughter (a definite PLUS, but the left will run with it ad nauseum). If the left thinks she might be a serious contender for any elected office, look for the smears to begin.
I am also an admirer of Lynne Cheney. She is Number 1 one my list of most admired people.
Liz Cheney has the best traits of both of her parents.
One caveat: if the country moves into extremis because there is a major financial crash, a devastating epidemic or biological attack, a nuclear incident, the country might very well turn to a real man, the kind of man with genuine gravitas who is no narcissist but a bona fide patriot. In the right circumstances, the country would seek a man like Dick Cheney.
I keep thinking about putting up a Cheney/Palin 2012 sign in my yard.
It would cause aneurysms in the libs driving by.
“It would cause aneurysms in the libs driving by.”
You might at least cause them to get into a coupla accidents...but they won’t have insurance and someone else will have to pay the bill...
Cheney is the best man out there. He is the original heavy-hitter.
Palin continues to shine.
And DeMint is on my radar now, thanks to his role in the Honduras episode.
Folks we’ve got a pretty good cadre taking shape.
Cheney looks like Fr. Marin come to kick the devil’s butt.
But you watch. The party apparatchiks and media (including the girly boys at Nat. Review, WSJ, Etc) will tell us that Mitt, Huck , Pawlenty and Perry are the top guys. It will be the same lame BS all over again unless we are hyper vigilant and heavily involved.
Welcome to FR? How are things over at LP these days?
2012—for me its ABO Anybody But Obama. Anyone the GOP puts up I will vote for even David Duke! (racist yes, Commie No)I am sure the GOP will pick someone with some leadership and some background. That or a 3rd Party with some spine. Still, its a long way til 2011 and the president’s race—with a little luck, I hope, Obama will be caught in a scandal and forced to resign from the presidency.
The problems with the “anybody but...” are twofold.
a) You might end up with a worthless cadaver like Dole or McCain again who are to stupid to win.
b) you end up with a slick RINO that further damages the conservative movement that has just now become re-invigorated.
I just shake my head when I see freepers quoting democratic talking points.
It's ok to think before you post.
Dick Cheney is a GREAT American!!!
Remember the great line in Golden Girls when a high school friend of Rose was coming to visit and the others didn’t know if they should tell her that her friend had announced she was a lesbian? They decided she deserved to know and when one of the told her that her friend was a lesbian her response was, “That’s OK. So was Danny Thomas!” Priceless.
Sadly, one of those programs that I enjoyed even though I had a great dislike for the politics of nearly everyone involved in the series!
Never saw the show, but that’s a good line.
So you think Cheney would lose in 2012 if he runs against Obama... Just wondering why do you think that?
I’ll vote for him.
