This BOAT CANNOT SINK
Wounded Hero Voyage ^ | 8-22-09 | Ralph Brown

It can't sink, it can't sink, it can't sink were the words going through my mind along with help us Lord Jesus, and trust your equipment. Bob is saying don't panic. He did not remember saying those words to me, but it actually helped me to remember not to panic.

Huge waves are breaking into the boat, we are being pushed up on a shoal. The boat is full of water and if it is not tied down it is gone. The antenna has fallen, the T top dry box just bounced open and all my important papers are falling, the waves are pushing us up to the rocks that we can't see, it is pitch black out with a cloud cover, our spotlight is only good for a few feet because of the fog. We are scared, I am scarred both for my life and for the mission, especially the mission.

A few minutes prior to this, I was driving, it has gotten dark and I am totally exhausted so I ask Bob to drive. He too is exhausted. We have just passed a light house on the outer Islands of Faroe. There is a small town there. We decide to go back to the small town to spend the night....

As many of you know, Ralph and Robert Brown are deep into an epic voyage to raise funds for our wounded warriors. To call attention to the bravery and stamina of our soldiers, some have trekked across the country, some have walked, or bicycled, Ralph and Robert have answered to call to DO MORE - they are Crossing the North Atlantic during hurricane season in a 21 foot shallow draft flats boat.

I know that the first reaction of any sane person (this was my first thought) is to be skeptical of such a mission, or such a calling.

We all know that God is capable of all things, yet we are surprised or resistant to God’s paticular call to us personally. Would God really say that to me, or another man? Would God really call anyone to do such a thing?

I have talked personally to Robert and Ralph, at the hour of their depature from a dock in Tampa Bay. They are men of great faith who would not attempt such a feat unless convinced that God has called them to do such a work.

Yet they still need our prayers.

Here are some of the latest transcripts from their web log reports at crosstheatlantic.com

When you read this, I know you will join me in praising God, for his miracle working power that has brought these men safely to this point in the voyage, and for the strength and grace to complete the crossing. Many weeks ago, the brothers Brown surrendered everything to this mission that began with a promise made to fallen Marines 29 years ago, and has culminated in this moment in the lethal North Atlantic at the Faroe Islands.

Give God the Glory!

Godspeed.

However, if they have that kind of "faith," perhaps they should be praying for the rest of us.
