I heard a talk show radio host (was it somebody who was filling in for Mark Levin?) say that the govt has bought up the whole american supply of the vaccine.
Since the elderly are not a priority, they will not be able to get the shot -- not even able to buy it on their own.
Was this conjecture, or is there a good source that can confirm this?
I mean. Obviously this would be a prime example of just what we fear about govt-run health care!
The ‘RATS would call it, “fixing” Social Security and Medicare.
If it’s true, let’em dig themselves in a bit before we expose them. Otherwise they’ll just say, “Well give us a chance to explain already! Our plan was ALWAYS to dispense it to the elderly and those most vulnerable.”
We have a habit of jumping the gun. “Don’t fire until you see the whites of their eyes.”

The CDC recommended in July that 65 and older not get the H1N1 vaccine because the elderly seem to have an immunity to the virus. In another article I read, there is some thought that an exposure to a similar virus years ago caused the immunity. Thus, there is no need to vaccinate those 65 and older besides which, there isn’t enough of a supply to vaccinate us all and schoolchildren and health care workers are first in line. And on top of that, we were supposed to be sharing what we had with countries who couldn’t afford any but I don’t know if that’s still the case.
I did hear that the H1N1 seemed to attack younger people-teens and young adults.
I have heard that. But the details are that the virus that the elders who have immunity to was the 1918 flu. The 65 year old set are NOT in that category. After that flu, the immunity drops. So, it is bogus to suggest that the 65 and older set don’t need it. I doubt that there are many over 90 years old around. They would be the ones who might have some immunity.
They want the elders of this nation to die.

The reason they will not get the vaccine is because there won't be enough.
Younger people with healthy immune systems appear now to be more at risk and should get what vaccine there is. Because H1N1 hit late and will return early, there is a legitimate reasons for vaccine being in short supply.
All that said, remember a few years back when a vaccine maker had to start over because of a bad batch? Bush was hammered for that.
This is a great issue for the GOP. Obama right now is rationing care to the elderly. Those on Medicare will not get a shot for a flu which could kill a substantial number of them.
He's said nothing about ramping up the production of vaccine. Nothing that I am aware of of speeding up the switch away from time consuming egg based vaccines.

curious - it's been reported that the obamination has invested $50,000 in this vaccine stock - when confronted, he said he didn't know about it at the time - uh huh.

I think he will get a pass if he is following CDC guidelines for a pandemic situation.
Researchers think those around for the 1956-57 Asian flu might have some immunity.
Not much I can find which says even that group is highly resistant. My hunch is the CDC, Obama and the media is giving the impression it is a fact that group is immune is because they don’t want to tell them the truth.
Bush didn’t get a pass on a normal flu season or on H5N1. He was attacked for everything the CDC did or didn’t do. The administration was, at the same time, blasted by leftists and the media for not stockpiling enough Tamiflu and for Chenney having invested in the company which gave Roche the license to make it. Bush was both running a scam to make money and not doing enough.

the swine flu "pandemic" of 1976 (see pot # 10) resulted in hundreds dying or being paralyzed - FROM the shots. One died from the flu.
No one has ever given me an answer as to why we have all this hysteria from the gov't over flu shots - seemingly concerned about people dying, when year after year, from hospitol error, for decades, we have upwards to 200,000 people dying needlessly - PER YEAR - and the gov't doesn't get all 'wee-weed' up about it.
Is is because there's no money to made from tackling this problem - like the megabucks the pharmas and their stockholders make with these vaccines? And besides, I always heard, when growing up, that the great flu pandemic like 1918 wouldn't happen again due to the discovery of penicillin? So why do we need to invade our systems = and our children - with these live viruses. Does anyone know what the ramifications may be down the line? Is there a saturation point?
time after time, I would be the only one in places I worked who would not the shot. And as the young folk who did get it, all came down sick for 2 weeks, they didn't understand why I didn't get sick...even with them all hacking and coughing around me.
I think I *have* heard something about how seniors are less likely to *catch* this flu, BUT if they *do* catch it they are more likely to die from it.
But again, it was something I think I heard on the radio and don’t have a source!

Twenty or so years ago during the swine flu scare we were told the elderly were the most vulnerable.
Now that the baby boomers are ready to retire and dip into social security, all of a sudden, they’re at the end of the line.
Well, this granny doesn’t want their consarn shots.
There are a lot of folks speaking out about these shots causing guille barre syndrome (a FReeper got that from a shot ten years ago) and even spreading the flu by getting the shots. Not for me.
And cause a lot of deaths by vaccine!
