Did An American President Actually Bow Before A Saudi King?
Start Thinking Right ^ | April 8, 2009 | Michael Eden

Posted on 04/08/2009 5:50:14 PM PDT by Michael Eden

One picture is worth a thousand words:

And here's the link to the video, so you can watch the whole thing over and over while screaming, "THIS IS YOUR IDEA OF RESTORING AMERICAN PRESTIGE?"

It didn't take long before the official denial: "Barack Obama did not show subservient fealty to that king, Mr. Abdullah..."

Barack Obama's handler's may be right. At least technically.

From Webster's Encyclopedic Unabridged Dictionary of the English Language:

"Curtsy: a bow by women in recognition or respect, consisting of bending the knees and lowering the body."
Let's see: bent knees - check. Lowered body - check. Woman? Well, that's really pretty darned subjective, given Obama being our first true metrosexual president, and all.

Obama didn't bow down before Saudi King Abdullah, contrary to the accusations by "the vast, right-wing conspiracy." He curtsied, which is the new metrosexual version of "a bow by any other name would smell as submissive."

Many are saying Obama bowing down before the Saudi king shows weakness. Like everyone didn't already know Barack Obama was weak...

I suppose we can look to the bright side of all this: by figuratively placing himself - and therefore the United States of America - under the rule of Saudi Arabia, maybe this president won't have any shoes thrown at him by angry Muslims.

I was hoping to find some camera angle that would show us for sure whether there was any kind of finger sucking action going on. But, shoot! You’re providing the transcript of the dialogue is more than enough to convince me! There was finger suckage!

I love that tag line (Global warming is to science what Islam is to religion).

I may borrow it, but I’d change it to Scientology, because... well, just because of Tom Cruise.

Then again, the way the Algore scientists like that Nasa guy Hanson have waged jihad on anybody who isn’t a true believer in global warming - and willing to kill the infidels in its name - makes your version pretty good too.

I do not remember seeing any picture of President Bush bowing to Saud. I would be intereted in seeing it if Mr. Newt or anyone can find one. He did hold hands with him.

What do you expect from a person who doesn’t have the slightest idea of what America is truly all about?

Sir,You must respect the office, not neccessarily the man,so the currant occupant of the White House IS the U.S. President and must be given the proper respect due the office. You can still critisize him,and berate him but he is the President.Respect is what seperates us from him.Do not stoop to his leval.

Sarkozy is not Jewish. He is a Roman Catholic. He had one Jewish grandparent. His mother was a Roman Catholic from the Bouvier family, same as Jackie Kennedy.

I googled “bush”, “bowed” and “saudi” and got this:

http://imagesource.cnn.com/imagesource/player.swf?streamer=rtmp://isfms.cnn.com/vod&file=mp4:895/05281895&type=video&controlbar=none&autostart=true&width=480&height=324

Bush did NOT bow before the Saudi king in this; he bent over so the king could place a necklace around his neck the way I’ve done when I’ve gone to Hawaii and had a lei placed around my neck.

Bush kissed him on the cheek, NOT the hand - which is merely a sign of loving respect - and NOT fealty. He has also (not in this vid) held the king’s hand - but again, Arab men hold one anothers’ hands as a sign of friendship.

Based on what I saw in that vid, the “bow” claim is a lie.

I just watched the video again; Bush doesn’t even KISS the king’s cheek - rather the king kisses HIM after hanging the medallion around Bush’s neck.

Bush gives a nod (which I’ve seen him give to people on the White House lawn) to the king, and then gives an identical nod to another person outside the camera frame.

Obama bowed. Bush performed the proper gestures of respect in the Arab culture to a fellow “king” or national leader.

You were correct and I was wrong. I think I got my info from LGF, I’ll check back with them.

That would seem to be some sort of Medal awarded President Bush by Saudi Arabia, and since there has been no outrage in the press previously I think we can assume it was memory dumped because it was probably for his efforts towards peace in the region as well as the war on terror.

I can trivialize it. I just did.

John Adams in his letter wrote how he genuflected upon entering the room, then again half way up the carpet, and again when he entered within speaking distance. The object of his obsequesiousness: George III of England. After independence.

I find it troublesome that Obama has not hired a protocol droid yet. They say that the differnce between Jesus and Obama is that Jesus knew how to assemble a cabinet. Of course Jesus would have had a severe challenge in finding virtuous men and women of left wing convictions from the blood sucking rent seekers in Washington, D.C.

screaming eagle,

Your last sentence reveals your perspective. You don’t like Obama, but you are saying, “He’s our president, and we have to respect the office.”

You are thinking how I thought during the Clinton years. Did not like Clinton, did not agree with his policies, but he was our president. Respect the office.

Something happened between then and now to change my mind: the last 8 years with Bush derangement syndrome and a level of hate and unrelenting bitterness like I’ve never seen. Liberals tore Bush down, one chunk of flesh at a time.

Obama will get as much loyalty and respect from me that libs gave Obama. We are in a culture war; and I’ve become a hard core foot soldier ready for a fight. If your enemy firebombs your cities, you firebomb his right back. If your enemy uses poison gas on you; you use it on him.

On top of that, I had a “moment” when I realized that Obama is a truly evil man - and that moment was those Jeremiah Wright sermons. When I realized that Obama had spent 23 years in a racist, anti-American, Marxist, hate-church, that was my moment of clarity.

I will oppose Obama. I will not recognize him as my president. And I will do everything I can to reveal him as a fool with terrible policies until he is gone. And if it means tearing him down one piece of flesh at a time like liberals did with Bush, so be it.

I didn’t understand what the medallion represented, but the important thing in this context is that Bush didn’t bow; he leaned over so the king could place the medallion around his head.

No bow.

Bush left it up to Obama to genuflect in submission.

My FRiend,

The office of the President of the United States stands vacant. The Usurper presently pulling off the illusion that he is the President is a pretender who is occupying the office and passing himself off as President.

He was put in power by the Communist Democrat machine embodied in ACORN, and his illusion is being maintained by the Fascist Democrat Congress and sycophant media.

He isn't even a natural born American citizen, let alone the President.

Frankly, I don't believe he is even eligible for impeachment, having never validly achieved the office.

I will show him as much respect as I would pay a criminal impostor, which is exactly what he is.

That was worth repeating. Hear Hear!!!!
