Did An American President Actually Bow Before A Saudi King?
Start Thinking Right ^ | April 8, 2009 | Michael Eden

Posted on 04/08/2009 5:50:14 PM PDT by Michael Eden

One picture is worth a thousand words:

And here's the link to the video, so you can watch the whole thing over and over while screaming, "THIS IS YOUR IDEA OF RESTORING AMERICAN PRESTIGE?"

It didn't take long before the official denial: "Barack Obama did not show subservient fealty to that king, Mr. Abdullah..."

Barack Obama's handler's may be right. At least technically.

From Webster's Encyclopedic Unabridged Dictionary of the English Language:

"Curtsy: a bow by women in recognition or respect, consisting of bending the knees and lowering the body."
Let's see: bent knees - check. Lowered body - check. Woman? Well, that's really pretty darned subjective, given Obama being our first true metrosexual president, and all.

Obama didn't bow down before Saudi King Abdullah, contrary to the accusations by "the vast, right-wing conspiracy." He curtsied, which is the new metrosexual version of "a bow by any other name would smell as submissive."

Many are saying Obama bowing down before the Saudi king shows weakness. Like everyone didn't already know Barack Obama was weak...

I suppose we can look to the bright side of all this: by figuratively placing himself - and therefore the United States of America - under the rule of Saudi Arabia, maybe this president won't have any shoes thrown at him by angry Muslims.

I am not arguing anything. Of course he was bowing, you have to be blind not to see it. The first picture shows him clearly bowing. The White House claimed he was shaking the kings hand with both hands. As you can see, 0bama had his left hand down by his side. After he straightened up from the bow in the second screen capture that I did, he lifts his left hand to shake the king’s had with both hands

I suppose a good hard punch to the solar plexus would NOT be a suitable greeting to a king of Saudi Arabia?

That would be MY greeting, anyway.

That’s a pretty good theory, (the overzealous hand kiss notion), but I would argue that he nevertheless bowed in the act of overzealous hand-kissing.

Maybe the House of Saud can institute a kissing of the bared royal gluteus maximus, especially for Obama?

Actually, if he’d bowed, and then admitted that’s what he was doing, I would have had more respect for him. This bit about bowing, and then denying that he bowed makes him a joke.

Good to hear, and thanks for the clarification.

Given the extra info, your take does have the sense of the “slow motion” analysis that I would love to hear done over this.

“Was that a grovel, Madden? It appeared to be a grovel.”

But you have to admit that the "curtsy" thing is a) even more ridiculous and b) gets to the heart of how pathetically weak Obama presented himself.

It would have looked a LOT more like a curtsy if Obama had been wearing one of his dresses.

I know you were stretching a bit to get the metrosexual weakling angle in there. And it sure would have looked more like a curtsy if he had been wearing one of Michelle's dresses. We will probably see that on 0bama's first visit to SF ...

This is how I, as President greeting such a King, would have professionally done it.

And why not? This is a photo upon the King's return to Riyadh from the G-20, welcomed by his senior government aides in their own cultural context.

Grown up men can act this way in mutual respect, without having to kowtow and go overly "local" to each other. Also, the King may in fact have been embarrassed by Obama's ring kiss. It would be interested to ascertain that fact--THAT would be the real story....doofus committing international social faux pas. And they said BUSH was bad overseas...

"Does Zero have Abdullah’s hand?"

Yes the Sinclair Eclair aka the Marxist Muslim Kenyan aka Barack Hussein Osama first takes the king's hand then bows never releasing his hand. Most likely kissing the king's hand

LOL! He was about to tie his shoe. He lost his contact.

Unfortunately, Bush also bowed to the Saud Family. Bush kissed the man and held hands with him.

On the plus side, perhaps if we make such a stink, this will be the last time to kiss up to the Saudis.

Well, I’d argue that it’s more like announcing you’re going to accept public campaign financing, and then reneging the moment it appears to be in your advantage to go back on your word.

I’m nineteen feet, eight inches tall, by the way.

Do I detect King Abdullah mouthing, “I told you, NO TONGUE!”?

Sean Hannity had the video on his show tonight. He absolutely bowed to the Saudi king. This is a total disgrace and spits on our forefathers who fought and gave their lives one way or another so NO AMERICAN should ever have to bow to a king. There is NO excuse for this. If he is so ignorant that he can’t see how this makes him seem subservient and weak he is too stupid to be our president. If he knows this and does it anyway, what does that signify? He is either ignorant and stupid or has allegiances that do not bode well for our nation. Wonder which one it is?

I thought you did a good job of presenting the hand kiss idea. I didn't know some of the stuff you presented, especially the king's "can we stop this already?" statement.

I agree. There are no other explanations, americanphile.

Barack Hussein Obama, the present President of The United States of America, bowed down before the King of Saudi Arabia.

That was not a mistake.

I think the best remark I have read so far is “Why didn’t the Saudi King also bow?”.......

All I can say is that I sure wouldn't bow to Barry Hussein; I'd just apologize afterward for "accidentally" raising my knee into his face when he bowed to me...
