Talk Radio Insiders ^

Posted on 04/02/2009 11:49:16 AM PDT by TalkRadioInsiders.com

So Glenn Beck leaves Headline News - and is now sending shockwaves throughout Cable News. Now drawing over 2,000,000 viewers and has only been on Fox since January.

So let’s see who the winners and losers are - of this turn of events:

Winner: FOX News Loser: Headline News Loser: The other cable news channels Loser: Bill O’Reilly?

The 2 ratings giants for a long time have been Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly of course…. and really they’ve had very little competition. Glenn didn’t stand much of a chance on the CNN channel, but now…

I like Glenn Beck better than Bill O’Reilly.

Glenn is an actual conservative.

Each time Beck has high ratings, Bore responds by being more conservative.

ViVa competition.

Glenn ain’t gonna take BoR unless he gets a prime time slot. Soon as that happens though watch out.

Yes. I have also noticed O’Reilly is moving further right with the rise of Beck.

I thought that would happen when he joined, but I am surprised it is happening so quickly in such a difficult time slot.

I can not stand O’reilly, he is a cowardly populist.

O’reilly NEVER takes on a tough issue to push the conservative cause.

O’reilly just figures out which direction the mob is running, and he tries to get in front of them.

Even so, he is useful at times. There are libs who will watch him, who won't watch other true conservatives.

I am sure O’reilly’s ego will be bruised by Beck.

GOOD!

The 5 PM eastern time slot isn’t bad but it’s not prime either.

I’m still hoping that both Rush Limbaugh and Howie Carr eventually get back to having their own TV shows at some point in the future. Both Rush and Howie would definitely have decent TV shows, IMHO! I also do hope that, if both do have future TV shows, it isn’t the full implementation of the “Fairness Doctrine” (or whatever it is called that replaces it) which creates such a situation from happening and which makes such TV shows also only last for a brief moment of time.

I'm saying exactly the same thing I was before.

Unless O'Reilly's ratings drop dramatically, he will remain in FoxNews channels prime 8 o'clock timeslot.

This article contains absolutely no information that would make me think otherwise.

Good things are happening for Beck. He will probably land the 7 or 10 o'clock timeslot soon.

Glenn is now the most lovable character on talk radio.

(Sorry Rush, he’s got you beat here now)

Hannity gets rid of butt head/Colmes.

Now Glenn Beck is getting great ratings, and that will ensure that Hannity and Bore will try harder and forget being nice to those who hate America.

I have also noticed O’Reilly is moving further right with the rise of Beck.

Some day, it is just barely possible that O'Reilly will actually vote for a Republican. He never has, you know. Not Goldwater, Not Reagan, Not Nixon, Not Bush I or II, not McCain, no even a schoolboard member.

Ask him.

I agree...I especially hate how O’Reilly constantly defends the soft-ball interviews he gives to high profile people like Obama as somehow being “tough”. I just don’t see it. He goes out of his way to seem “middle-of-road” way to much. Good for Glen Beck, his show can be very entertaining.

“I am sure O’reilly’s ego will be bruised by Beck.”

I really don’t know if its possible to bruise O’Reilly’s ego. He has really gone off the deep end...and fashions himself to be quite important.

O’Reilly is paying the price for kissing up to Obama.

“Yes. I have also noticed O’Reilly is moving further right with the rise of Beck.”

I gave up on Bore during for his backing Kerry versus the Swift Vets.

Several of my younger relatives had emailed me or told me try Bore again because of Beck. A very conservative SIL said she was watching Bore again.

My wife and I watched Bore earlier this week, and she wondered what caused his ephinany? I told her about Beck, and she said competition is great.

Whom do we deluge with requests for a *prime time* Beck slot?

BOR could vanish tomorrow from the airways and I wouldn’t notice.
