The New York Times - By The Numbers ^ | 2009-03-28 | Charles M. Blow

Posted on 03/28/2009 7:41:09 AM PDT by rabscuttle385

Michael Steele is the gift that keeps on giving. His latest entrée unto the absurd comes in the form of an interview with CNN’s Don Lemon. Steele now wants us to believe that his wayward ramblings are part of an elaborate ruse – some sort of Jedi mind trick. Really?

Keep it up, NY Times... You are imploding as we speak

Steele needs to go, but attacking Palin will turn more people against the fishwrap once known as a newspaper.

He now claims the Limbaugh gaffe was planned.

Curious.

Rush hasn’t mentioned it.

If it were, surely Rush would have made reference, since it is basically old news now.

==

And why would the chairman of the RNC, of all people, ‘plan’ such a thing? Who would it advantage? Certainly not him. And Rush get plenty of bump from Obama/Gibbs and crew, so Rush didn’t need it.

That’s embarrassing. He should be comfortable enough in his own skin at his age not to be lying out of ego (”yeah, I planned to make a jackass out of myself, insult a wildly popular conservative radio host, alienate all his fans, knuckle under and apologize, . . . yeah, it was strategic.”) He needs to grow up right now and not tell another lie, not insult another Republican (period), not bare his soul (and throat) to the liberal media, stay on his agenda and his talking points rather than being a gaffe machine that just follows along with the direction the interviewer points him in. He needs a real plan rather than lying and pretending his mistakes were actually plans.

Somene that knows him . . . please forward this to him. Tell him to get a damn campaign manager to help him. He needs a campaign manager type to keep him on point and help formulate his message (and the parties). Please help this man.

Addressing the Steele portion of the article:

In spite of it being the NYT, Steele has to go. He can’t seem to grasp when is the best time to shut up. The Republican Party doesn’t need that sort of help.

“So that the libs can say, “There are NO blacks in the Republican Party. Look what they did to Michael Steele”?”

So he needs to head up the RNC as some sort of token? Tokenism trumps principles now?

Yes... your logic is impeccable.

We *SHOULD* keep an idiot in charge of the Republican party. Heaven forbid the liberals say anything bad.

This is what we get when we trust our country to lawyers and professional politicians.
The founding fathers envisioned CITIZEN legislators who would SERVE for a few years, the go back home. Instead that few years has turned into a lifetime job. A career. Think Thad Cochran (MS) damn near forty (40) years in Washington.
Now instead of Lincoln’s Gettysburg line, “Of the people, by the people and for the people.” has become “Of the lawyers/politicians, by the lawyers/politicians and for the lawyers/politicians.”

RINO alert? I live here and I can tell you for a FACT that Steele went around to the grass roots conservative groups and campaigned where others did not. I know because I used to see him everywhere. That is why he won. Not becuase he is black.
