Noah's Faith
Devotions ChopChop ^ | March 24, 2009 | Dave Miller (tenger)

By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith. Hebrews 11:6

It has to be the longest construction project ever: 120 years working on a wooden ship.

Noah did it by faith.

Up to that point, it had never rained before, so even the concept of rain was foreign to Noah and those who watched him day after day (Genesis 2:5-6).

I suspect he was harassed and ridiculed. The people probably laughed at the monstrosity Noah was building. His family probably thought he wasn't altogether with it. He probably continued to warn them that it was going to rain and that they needed to be prepared. But he labored on because he had faith in what God had told him. God was sustaining Noah for all those years.

God had given him specific instructions on how it was to be built and who would go in.

One hundred twenty years he labored.

Then it neared completion so he started gathering the animals. Big. Small. Colorful. Ugly. Beautiful. Creepy, Cute. Then he corralled the people: his wife, three boys and their wives, and himself. They were in the ark for seven days before the rains came (Genesis 7:7). Those last seven days had to test his faith, waiting, just waiting for the water to fall from the sky.

Perhaps God has "told" you something and you have no idea how it could possibly come true, but you know beyond a doubt that it was God. You may have to wait a long time to see it occur. There will be doubts and fears. Hang in there.

Notice that God speaks to men directly in Genesis particularly prior to the flood, while the words ‘prophet’, ‘prophecy’ and the like which are on every page of the OT after Genesis occur only in the one vague reference to Abraham as ‘God’s prophet’, and that was after the flood. I.e. that the trance states and what not used to communicate with God or other spirits after the flood were not needed prior to that. I can’t speak for Noah but, if God telle ME to build an ark, I’m gonna build an ark and I’m not gonna care terribly much what the neighbors think about it.

1 Thessalonians 4
13But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

[God had given him specific instructions on how it was to be built and who would go in.]
[his wife, three boys and their wives, and himself. They were in the ark for seven days before the rains came (Genesis 7:7). Those last seven days had to test his faith, waiting, just waiting for the water to fall from the sky.]

All true but one fact. God had warned Noah and He preached rightiousness to all who would hear and many people heard and worked on the ark.
But they did not beleive God’s prophet Noah. The seven days they waited represented the grace God had for those who believed God prophet Noah and God left the door open so that whomsoever will, let him come. All others mocked Gods prohet Noah and it was God that shut the door and immediately the flood waters burst on the earth from the earth itself as well as the rain from above.
And so it is now, God has kept the door open through some 6000 years of human history for man to be saved and only a few believed God and were and are saved. The sudden flood waters then closed off all hope for those left behind.
The rapture of the body of Christ is next and the saved saints of Jesus Christ will be translated (dead and living in a moment) and will be in the heavenlies for the seven year tribulation while a flood of God’s judgements (21 total, 7+7+7, will be poured out on the earth, the wrath of God and His Lamb on all the unbeleiving world), then the 1000 year rule of Jesus Christ on the earth as Lord God,Saviour, and King. Hense, thy kingdom come.
Believe it or be left behind.

Please don’t quote the Bible out of context to make your illustrations. Genesis 2:5-6 refers to the time BEFORE man was created. One cannot make the leap to that there had never been rain in the time of Noah. This kind of selective, out-of-context quoting is what gives Christians a bad name.

Other than than, nice article.
