The Great Obama Depression Is Coming
Lubbock on line ^ | 2/19/09 | Donald R. May

Posted on 02/20/2009 9:16:03 AM PST by FromLori

If major tax and regulatory relief are not quickly instituted, our economy will soon hit the next major stage in its downward spiral.

This will happen because people are slowing their spending and their investing, as they have no idea what President Obama will do next. Businesses are losing money, contracting, and closing down. This leaves people without jobs and commercial real estate space empty. Closing businesses pushes down the value of real estate property. Left unchecked and uncorrected, we will soon begin to experience a major commercial real estate crash.

It’s hard without a job.

Seriously, I keep seeing Freepers tell me it’s not that bad, but I am not seeing jobs rallying and it’s hard to spend ourselves out of this economy when business are shutting down left and right.

Have you looked at it in the last couple of days? Markets are tanking and so are your investments

Exactly. A financial advisor wants you to buy and sell so he can make his own wife happy with a paycheck.

Its even worse in Michigan. If you want to know what it will be like nationally, just look to Michigan.

Personally, I'm getting more and more scared with each passing day.

You mean real movies with real plots that you had to use a brain to understand and not have really loud music blare entertainment into your brain?

I won’t mind that so much.

I’m not sure if the link is still working. A bunch of residents started screaming at the mayor. Hey, at least they showed up.

Well, the market is WALL STREET, not MAIN STREET. It doesn’t tell the whole story.

If anything, this exemplifies that Government intervention is a failure. The Feds bailed out Wall Street and the auto makers, and look what it’s gotten them. A tanking DOW. The recipients of the bailouts are in large part the businesses listed on Wall Street.

>>At least is we are going to have to live through a Depression like our parents or grandparents lived through, we can bring back fedora hats, big band music, great black&white movies, and Fibber McGee & Molly.<<

And maybe this as well:

I think they would look nice in blue.

we cannot spend our way out of this one. It will not work. When you have an extra few bucks, buy something you can EAT, that will keep a LONG time. Beans, rice, barley, tuna, canned foods. Plant the garden, cut back everywhere else. Food will be worth more than gold soon. Ammo as well. stock up on one to feed your family, the other to ensure no one else eats your familys food.

Hmm, that’s odd; both Laura Ingrahm and Rush think O is trying to sink the market. A lot of short sales going on today.

That’s what I am doing. I have a whole closet filled with beans, rice, and those little foil wrapped tuna packets for protein that stores well.

Ammo is also being purchased.

Obama doesn’t have to worry...the MSM will convince the sheeple that it’s all the fault of Bush, the Republicans who voted against the spending bill, or greedy capitalists.

good idea. That is the only thing that will be worth anything. Stocks bonds gold cannot be eaten. The rich will have gold and be able to buy stuff, but us unwashed masses will trade foodstuffs and the like for what we need. It will be here quickly, so keep it up.

I don’t think that’s anything new. The stock market has always had parameters for an automatic trading halt. If I remember correctly, trading was halted one day towards the end of last year because they hit the limits.
