"60 Minutes" Barney Frank lovefest was in full fear on December 14th in its profile of the voluble of the House Banking Committee - portraying Frank as the irascible but lovable public servant who is working 24/7 to save the planet from the financial crisis. What is skated over is Frank's complicity in its origins, his former partner who was knee deep at Fannie Mae and Frank's little episode with a prostitution ring being run out of his domicile - which of course, he didn't know about - as if any other politician would get away with that jive.
Only the people who can’t get across the room to turn it off when it comes on their old wood-grain console Quasar. Unfortunately they believe everything Stahl & co. tell them.
They’re in for a shock when TV goes digital in Feb.
did he ‘swallow’ so you could understand him?
In the brief bit I saw, Stahl was smitten by the fact that he snapped at her. Then she lovingly stroked him by telling him how he was a liberal on social issues and smart and pragmatic on economic issues. He was slightly irritatated that the praise didn't go far enough.
I do the same. I DVR the entire show every week so that I do not miss the few segments that are worth watching without having to suffer segments like the Barney Frank infomercial. The Pete Carroll interview was great! A man whom many in the NFL consider a failure has truly found his niche in LA. He is a positive influence, not only on the football players at USC, but also young boys who would in all likelihood become gang members.
What do people think of “Banking Queen” - the Shanklin song parody? When I first heard it, it sounded like fingernails on a blackboard (remember blackboards?), and Rush said you’re still not supposed to understand all the words cuz that’s how Bawney talks, but even with all that it’s kind of clever.
The report was so glowing and fawning (is that gay?) that anyone not knowing about the guy’s corruption and culpability for the current mess, would have insisted he run for president. Frank will be the new Kennedy when the old man leaves. He is the symbol of how corruption and lack of responsibility can get a guy ahead in the congress and lead to a long career on the public dole. Pun intended. Message serious.
