Where does it say that the VP has any voice whatever in selecting SCOTUS justices? Selecting Palin was a brilliant tactical move to win the election. As to all the claims of McCain's brilliance in choosing Palin, he would not be the first Presidential candidate to have a VP forced on him by others in the party.

I didn't need Palin on the ticket to convince me to vote for McCain, I made my mind up when I realized the only alternative was a Marxist friend of terrorists in the White House, and I won't countenance anyone sneering and undercutting the GOP nominee, even a nominee that I was never in love with, and probably never will be, but I'm liking him more these days, and he has my unqualified support, I'm not voting for "President Baggage", I'm voting for John Sydney McCain.
