Stephen Spruiell at The Corner has been watching the Republican Platform Drafting Committee and thinks that Johnny Mac may be coming around, at least a little, on Global Warming.
Republican Platform Committee . . . decided to strike the phrase “global warming” anywhere it appeared in the document, either replacing it with the more neutral “climate change,” or removing it altogether.
Though "Climate Change" may be more ambiguous than "Global Warming," it still falls in the category of putting lipstick on a pig (you can call it what you want, it is still a pig), the change in terminology may just work here because the real progress was on the man-made aspect of climate change.
The new version dropped the sentence that attributed warming to human activity. It also added a line after “measured and reasonable steps” that stated, “Any policies should be global in nature, based on sound science and technology, and should not harm the economy.”
So the adopted language dumps the hoax of a man-made cause of planet-warming. And it goes further to require real scientists to agree on the causes (that'd be the sound part). But the piece de resistance is the requirement that any measures taken to combat climate change not harm the economy, which pretty much rules out the capitalism-destroying global taxes advocated by the Gorebots.

Good! One poll I saw some time back had only 24% of Americans who gave a hoot about the issue and I would imagine that 0% of Republicans give a hoot about it.

The global warming crowd of which McCain is a member have pushed for this change in the lexicon some time ago. Why? The earth's temperature has not gone up since 1998 per the latest reports and there is a forecast that we will head into a "slight" cooling period over the next decade. Hence, the need to change global warming to climate change.
The liberals do this all of the time. An illegal alien is an undocumented worker and amenesty is comprehensive immigration reform.
The McCainites have been busily at work in the platform committee. Today, they shot down an amendment that would have substituted drilling in Alaska to drilling in ANWR. The opponents of the amendment cited the problem this would cause McCain who is against drilling in ANWR or as they said, McCain is not there yet. The McCainites have also blocked stronger language on immigration and amnesty in the platform.

It’s unbelievable to me that so many are willing to be scammed armed with only the word of Al Gore. That McCain still mentions GW in some of his speeches is scary.
The GOP should stick to it’s guns on climate change scam folks otherwise our nation will be taxed out of existence by these fraudsters.

This would be a very significant step, and most welcome!
Thank goodness someone still has some common sense. Its nailbitingly close here in Australia whether we’ll end up with some economy destroying “feel good” legislation. “Feel good” because even if the whole thing were true (which, of course, it isn’t) Australia is only 1% of the whole shebang so even if it shut down its whole economy it wouldn’t make any practical difference!
