I wish that Fred of even Duncan could have gotten the Republican nomination. But the fact is that neither man ever really polled much out of the bottom of the pack. Duncan, just not well known enough, and quite honestly, it appeared to me that Fred's heart just wasn't in the race.

Would there be a veep choice that might make you be able to hold your nose and vote for McCain? I was kinda hoping for J.C. Watts, but some have told me that he has some baggage.

I fear that both of us perhaps are each in our own way seeking to get back to Kansas with Dorothy and Toto. It would seem so at least this year.

“I was kinda hoping for J.C. Watts, but some have told me that he has some baggage.”

Yes, JC has some baggage. That’s a good thing, really. JC is THE example of how to be responsible for you own actions. Everyone makes mistakes, but it truly does take big person to stand up and say “I made a mistake, and this is how I will handle it”, which is exactly what he has done.

He is the a perfect example of “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” and succeeding in life.

He, or Sarah Palin, would be my choice for Veep, and would cause me to vote, and vote for McManiac.

As far as “bridging” the racial divide, JC would do infinitely more than could Obama, who is actually causing more of a divide.

For all of the reasons stated above, I do not plan on casting a POTUS vote for the first time in my 35 years of voting experience, UNLESS a Conservative Veep is nominated.

Fred did a lot better than most folks realize -- he was among the top three and I think even came in second in one or possibly two states' primaries (I forget). What shocked me was the utter apparently voluntary black out on Thompson among so-called "conservative" media. I lost all respect for Britt Hume, for example. Hugh Hewitt couldn't even bring himself to speak of Thompson by NAME for awhile -- he'd only refer to him as "that guy" or some such. It was absolutely disgusting. I think Fred's heart was in the race plenty, but that his heart just GAVE UP when he saw political reporters who SHOULD have been focusing on how well Thompson was doing in half the time and with half the money compared to the other guys, ignoring him completely and focusing on Romney -- even in states where Thompson DID BETTER! Something weird was going on, there.

The only two radio commentators I heard praise Thompson openly and largely were Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin (Mark referred to Fred as "my guy" on one of his shows). The only major columnist who WROTE openly of Thompson's superiority among the candidates, was Mark Steyn.

If Thompson picked Tom McClintock as VP (a wonderful small-government conservative from California), I'd vote for him!
