Living in Michigan, it just keeps getting Dumb and Dumber.

If anyone ever pondered what disasters would await the country if the Whitehouse did fall into the clammy hands of the Democrats we only have to look towards my home state of Michigan. Facing an enormous budget deficit caused by the far left governor Grandholm driving away businesses such as Pfizer and Comerica she resorted to the time tested democratic strategy of raising taxes for the “Rich”, so as Grandholm put it we can “Invest in our State”. Unlike most investments however I sincerely doubt any of Michigan’s taxpayers will be seeing a return on this investment anytime soon. Only in a communist country would a government force it’s Taxpayers to “invest” in such a nonsensical cause. Fortunately, for a few of us we have an option to back down from this wonderful investment opportunity…. move out of state.

For anyone looking for a reason to stay in Michigan I have few words of encouragement. The fact remains that our property market has hit rock bottom, I live I a nice, clean relatively crime-free suburb however I sit on a block with four foreclosed houses, the value of my property itself has only gone up by a few thousand bucks since I bought it… and now I’m faced with higher income taxes. All these taxes will do is drag down an already sagging economy, and although as with most left-wing tax hikes it is targeted at the rich (ie working professionals) it will ultimately be impact poorer families more, and provide another nail into Michigan’s coffin.

The Democratic leadership in Michigan further taxed us by dictating what services they termed where a “luxury” and added a 6% service tax to them. Yes, the government is now dictating what we can and can’t spend our money on!... lets take a look at a few of these 23 service taxes.

Carpet Cleaning – Yes we have a carpet cleaning tax, god forbid anyone would want a clan carpet in Michigan.

Investigation, guard and armored car services – Yes, it will be easier to find some ”Tax free” income now the left wing has decided armored cars are a luxury.

Janitorial – Now, after you get laid off you have to clean your own desk!

Bail Bonding – Well, they get you one way or another. After robbing the unarmored car for your tax free income you’ll have to pay a service tax on the bail bond!.

Balloon-o-grams – Darn, does that mean less Hillary 2008 balloons… maybe I can live with that one!

Dating Services – Yes, the left wing has stooped to a all time low when we start putting a service tax on love.

Wedding planning – The left wind have decided weddings are a luxury, this tells you in a nutshell what they think of marriage. Personal fitness training – Yes, we are one of the most unhealthy states in the nation and the left wing are taxing GYM membership. No-doubt so they can sign us all up for triple bypasses on the National Healthcare system.

Funeral services – After you die from the 2 year national health waiting list they’ll tax your funeral. Because, as we all know, death is a luxury reserved for rich conservatives.

So what will happen to businesses that provide these services, they will ultimately have four possible options…. raise prices to become competitive again, layoff employees, move to Ohio or close down. Either way these tax increases will simply increase unemployment, and reduce the amount of money each of us gets to save.

Indeed it may not be 1984, but it seems that the left wing has killed the freedom of Michigan residents. I came to this country just 7 years ago for freedom, for freedom from the high taxes of Europe, for freedom from government control of our lives. The fact remains that if the left ever take the white house the impact will be no-less than devastating.

With actors flooding into Michigan to staff the repertory theaters on every corner, it would seem this would be a good target for higher taxes.

An Artist Tax, that would be a windfall for Michigan.

I know how you feel. The similar oppressive tax burden situation has been happening in Connecticut with Benedict Arnold Republican Governor Jodi Rell and the overwhelming socialist DemoRAT state legislature.

OK, pop quiz, staff of Progressive, Inc. ... revenue is down, so we’re going to change prices in order to increase revenue. Our choices are raise prices or lower prices. Which one will increase revenue the most? Yes, raise our prices! The higher we raise them the more money we will make on each sale. er, whatwasthatyousaid? People won’t buy them at a much-increased price? they will take their business elsewhere? oh, my. No, I’ve never heard of the phrase “make it up on volume.” Have a sale and while we don’t earn as much on each unit, we’ll sell a boat-load? Gee, I don’t know ... we’d be letting those rich customers off the hook.

Saying they’ve killed freedom is a bit extreme. After all, we the people fought for and won a concealed carry law. We the people fought against and won a victory against gay marriage. We the people fought against and defeated affirmative action. We the people sent one of our best former state legislators to Washington in the last election and defeated a RINO to do it.

No retreat, no surrender.

Thanks everyone for the warm Welcome!

Has anyone else caught the Ads Jennifer TaxHolm is now running on WJR 760? She is running 30 second ads (in the middle of the Sean Hannity Show of all places) blaming President Bush for the Michigan economic slowdown, and doing her best to make out she is our knight is shining armor.

This makes me sick, the only reason Michigan is in a single state recession is due to the small fact our Governor has been asleep at the switch. These ads are just a feeble attempt of butt coverage by the Grandholm camp... hopefully nobody takes this nonsense seriously. I’m just glad she’s burning her dollars running this garbage on a conservative radio station!.
