I was very homesick the whole time I was there so I guess my judgement was clouded. I lived close to Dow Chemical and I still remember the acidy smell of the plant, and the days when the ammonia would get so strong you had to roll up the car windows to keep from choking. But I loved the people there. They were so much fun. The TV show Dallas comes to mind.

Well, my only real disappointment in Texas was the lack of real barbecue. Although it’s a big state, and I didn’t try everywhere. Did my besst, though.

My sister and her family live near Dallas, as does one of my brothers.
