I agree with your points, but have to say this article is another symptom of something that's been growing around here--the need for EVERYONE to feel like they're a victim.

Everything about a candidate affects whether one will vote for him or not. Thompson will make decisions based on his experience as a Globalist,being a Neocon,and the fact he was a Lobbyist.
And all those things are what will concern voters a lot more than because he is a southerner and a actor, although it's not something that can be ignored either.

Southern prejudice? Lord, gimme a break. Victimhood is one thing. Recognizing prejudice is another. Clearly people are prejudiced about a lot of things, and if you think there is no prejudice about people from the south, you are kidding yourself. The false association you make is that acknowledging it makes one a victim. It doesn't. Merely observant.
Clearly there is still some prejudice against black people, but some don't accept victimhood because they acknowledge it.
