Funny how this article fails to mention that part...

Me too, you hear me pissing and moaning about the fact that I send my kid to a private school and therefore do not take advantage of the nanny state so-called free commy education?

You reap what you sow!

Don't forget federal income tax. Most couple with children that I know are getting nice, fat refunds. The childless couples are paying in...big time. Our choice, but the way things are set up, we pay for that decision.

LAst I checked, this was a free country, and people were free to choose the life that they want and enjoy. To me, that is the conservative principle, not lambasting someone because they choose not to have children.

This coming from a father of 4 and grandfather of 2.

I do have to give you one jab though Jersey -- never having children will deprive you of one of the greatest joys in life -- namely GRAND Children. :-) hehehe

Well, I have three kids who will never be in a govt funded school, and I have to pay the taxes anyway. I don't like taxes, and I think Govt needs to have a gastric bypass, but I do like having paved roads and police and firefighters.

The thing I find laughable about this article is the argument that the decision to have or not have children is solely economic. There are many reason why people have children, economic is only one. Now how many kids can be affected by economics...(I only have three)

Hey, you pay taxes to support them when they grow up and join the army.

not to mention you will never get the tax breaks of having children, that there are other taxes you pay that are "for the children." there are portions of your federal and state income taxes that goto various agencies that fund and monitor daycares, schools, food programs, etc. plus all kinds of laws passed that will never effect you, and many that will because of other people's children, that are - for you- a waste of politician's time.
i think that childless families are the most burdened, not the freeloaders.

I did a calculation on my income and came up with the fact I pay 4 times the median income tax.

Since I have no kids, I put less than 1/2 the strain in the infrastructure. Which means it would take 8 family wage earners to make up for my tax base.

There are a lot of things in American society jiggered for kids. That is OK -- I support a society that supports kids and families.

What is NOT OK is to come along and tell those of us who are doing the heaviest lifting that we are somehow doing "less that our part."

Whatever it is that makes people say "I want n children," I just ain't got. It like describing color to someone blind from birth.

Hey, I'm not saying that you should have kids. I'm thrilled when people are aware of their choices before it's too late.

However, those kids going to school will be the bottom contributers to the ponzi scheme we call "Social Security."

(That said, the article's ideas about "free riding" are totally silly.)
