25 Warnings in Ten Years to the United States - Bill Koenig

In John McTernan's and my book, "Israel: The Blessing or the Curse," we showed how the Lord over ten years has given the United States 21 warnings the same day the U.S. has pressed Israel to give up their land. There were record-setting earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, tropical storms, floods and stock market corrections. I have also included 4 more since President George W. Bush took a more active role in the Middle East talks.

October 30, 1991 - President George W. Bush and Russian President Michael Gorbachev begin the Madrid Conference. The Perfect Storm (a movie and book were written about it) begins forming in the Atlantic. It develops into the largest Atlantic waves in history.

October 31, 1991 - Syria and the Palestinians say Israel must give up their land for peace. The Perfect Strom hits the New England coast causing $1 million in damage to President George H.W. Bush Kennebunkport home.

August 23, 1992: The Madrid talks move to Washington. The day the conference begins Hurricane Andrew, the most expensive storm in U.S. history, clobbers Southern Florida and Louisiana.

September 13, 1993: Israel and the PLO sign a joint agreement; the same day Hurricane Emily hits the North Carolina coast.

January 4, 1994: U.S. Clinton and Assad meet in Geneva, Switzerland calling for Israel to leave the Golan Heights. Within hours the 6.9 Northridge earthquake rocks Southern California, the second most expensive national disaster in history.

March 1, 1997: Arafat arrives in Washington to discuss the Har Homa Housing project in Israel. The Israeli government had started buidling 6500 housing units in East Jerusalem. Arafat leaves on March 2 for a U.S. speaking tour against Israel. On the day Arafat begins his speakig tour powerful tornados devastate huge sections of the nation, tornados hit Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee and Kentucky. While Arafat continued his speaking tour storms stalled over Ohio and caused serious flooding. The tornadoes destoyed Arkadelphia, Arkansas, while the flooding destroyed Falmouth, Kentucky. The storms did over $1 billion in damage. Also, heavy snow fell in March and April causing the worst flooding in a century in the Dakotas. This too was a billion dollar disaster. (Note: March 1 was also the day President Clinton signed into law a bill that would release $385 million to 100 countries for family planning, some of the money could be used for abortion.)

July 2, 1997: Thailand devalues currency which helps begin world economic destabilization. July 15, 1997 the UN votes to condemn Israel's housing construction.

January 21, 1998: Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is pressured to give up land by Clinton and Albright. They refuse to have lunch with him. That afternoon the Monica Lewinsky case breaks.

September 24, 1998: Clinton announces Arafat. Netanyahu comes to the UN to discuss stalled peace talks. Hurricane George builds and zeroes in on Key West.

September 27, 1998: Albright working out final details: Georges slams Gulf Coast - 110 mph, gusts up to 115 mph and flooding.

September 28, 1998: Clinton meets Arafat and Netanyahu at White House to finalize land giveaway. Hurricane George lingers. Arafat speaks to rousing and sustained ovation at the United Nations. George smashes Gulf Coast, Arafat leaves the storm dissipates.

October 15, 1998: The Wye River talks begin. Heavy rain and tornado hits Texas. San Antonio receives 20 inches and experiences major flooding. On October 21, Clinton declares disaster. On October 23, the Wye meetings end.

November 23, 1998: Yasser Arafat comes to the United States to raise money. The U.S. provides $400 million and the Europeans $1.7 billion. Dow tumbles 217 points. European markets experience worse drop in history.

December 1, 1998: The U.S. House deliberates articles of impeachment on Dec. 12 four articles are approved. Clinton meets with the Palestinians in a controlled section in Israel at the same time the impeachment newsbreaks. Clinton calls for statehood status for the Palestinians and for a capital to be in Jerusalem. Clinton becomes the first President to be impeached in 130 years.

December 15, 1998: Clinton arrives home. Four days later the U.S. House accepts two articles of impeachment. Two weeks before there were not enough votes, Clinton commits $300 to $500 million to the Palestinians, and at the exact time there was a heart change in the House and he was impeached.

March 23, 1999: Arafat meets Clinton in Washington on Israel land giveaway. Dow tumbles 219 points. The next day Clinton authorizes a Serbia attack. Russia becomes very angry and World War III almost begins. Russia and China are brought together due over the Kosovo incident.

May 3, 1999: Arafat is prepared to declare Jerusalem the capital of his new state. Clinton sends Arafat a letter encouraging aspirations of his own land and the right to determines their own future the right to live in freedom today, tomorrow and forever. Record breaking tornadoes hit Oklahoma and Kansas, the 316 mph winds are the highest wind speeds in history.

August 30, 2001: Hurricane Dennis lingers on the East Coast. Sept. 1, Secretary of State Madeleine Albright meets with Arab leaders and Barak. On Sept 3 Hurricane Dennis continues to linger and drops enormous rains.

September 13, 1999: Israeli Foreign Minister and Arafat's Deputy workout a final status deal on Israel's land giveaway. Hurricane Floyd, a Category 5 storm, becomes a monster storm and slams into the North Carolina coast dropping 20 inches of rain killing 100,000 hogs; 2.47 million chickens; and 500,000 turkeys.

September 21, 1999: Arafat comes to Washington and visits the UN to discuss Wye. From Sept. 21-23 the Dow drops 524 points. This was a very destructive month.

Week of October 11, 1999: Jewish Settlers from 15 West Bank settlements evicted. While Israel was forcing the settlers off the covenant land, the stock market was melting down. On October 15, the market lost 266 points! Also on October 15, Hurricane Irene hit North Carolina, and on the morning of the 16th, a powerful 7.1 earthquake rocked the Southwest.

January 3-4, 2000: Barak agrees to hand over 5% of its territories to the Palestinians, with complete transfer by the end of the week. Dow drops 359 points, NASDAQ 229 points, and the worst drop ever, with over $600 billion in market capitalization wiped out. Barak has a Golan Heights meeting.

April 12-13: Barak arrives in Washington. Clinton says he want to be more involved in the peace talks. NASDAQ collapses, it falls over 600 points its worst week ever.

June 16, 2000: Arafat and Clinton meet. Clinton wants to finish business by September 13, 2000, which is the seven-year anniversary date. Dow falls 265 points in its final hour.

July 12, 2000: Barak, Arafat have a meeting at Camp David. Talks continue to July 26. Talks collapse over Jerusalem over Muslim and Jewish sections of the Old City. Fires begin in Western United States; 7 million acres burn some of the worst in history. Montana and Wyoming declared disaster areas. Dan Glickman the Secretary of Agriculture reported that the winds were equivalent of the Perfect Storm because there was high winds, high temperatures, lightning and no rain.

July 28, 2000: Texas declares 195 counties disaster areas due to a drought, the worst in history for that region.

March 31, 2001: On the day Egyptian President Hosni Mubarek arrived in Washington, a Chinese fighter jet "bumped" into one of our EP-3 reconnaissance planes, forcing it-along with the 24-person crew-to make an emergency landing in China. The resulting crisis completely overshadowed the visits of Mubarek and King Abdullah II.

April 10, 2001: Jordan's King Abdullah II arrived in Washington earlier in the week to speaks with Christian leaders, members of Congress and others to get behind the initiative. He visits the White House on April 10 and then returns home to Jordan. The next day China agrees to release the "detained" airmen from the downed plane. The extremely valuable aircraft remains behind in China, evidently to be shipped home in pieces.

May 22, 2001: President Bush and Secretary of State Colin Powell publicly endorse the Mitchell Report. Concurrently, Vermont Senator James Jeffords is rumored to be leaving the Republican Party. Vermont-already a pro-choice state-becomes the first to approve same sex-unions. That same day, the Dalai Lama arrives in Washington. This visit angers China, and the Chinese Premier calls Bush "unfit" to be President.

May 25, 2001: Senator Jeffords leaves the Republican Party, becoming an Independent, allowing the Democrats to obtain a majority in the Senate, throwing judicial and diplomatic nominations into question. On the same day, Daniel Kurtzer is nominated for Ambassador to Israel and endorsed by pro-land giveaway Reform and Conservative Jews, making up 85% of American Jewry.

June 8, 2001: Reuters News Service reports that United States CIA director George Tenet and a special envoy from Washington have spearheaded an international effort on Friday "to strengthen a fragile Israeli-Palestinian cease-fire" plagued by fresh violence. The Central Intelligence Agency director hosted talks between senior Israeli and Palestinian security officials in Ramallah, while Assistant Secretary of State William Burns met Palestinian President Yasser Arafat in the West Bank.

June 8, 2001: Catastrophic flooding overnight brings the Houston area to a near standstill, with nearly 10,000 people left homeless and 3,000 homes and businesses affected, Gov. Rick Perry declares a state of emergency in the Houston area and 28 southeast Texas counties. More than two feet of rain fell at Bush Intercontinental Airport causing flights to be cancelled until early Sunday morning.

September 11, 2001: The greatest attack ever on American soil occurred. The hijacking of four airplanes and the attack on the World Trade Center (WTC)in New York City and the Pentagon left upwards of 6,000 dead and thousands injured. These suicide attacks by Muslim terrorists caused over $100 billion in damage and financial losses and stunned the country.

The attack was aimed right at the financial heart of the United States. The effect of this attack on the stock market was devastating. The week after the attack was one of the worst ever for the stock market. It may be the catalyst for an economic depression that could affect the entire world.

President Bush refused, when asked, to say whether he had been prepared to announce his support for a Palestinian state prior to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on Washington and New York.

A CNN article stated that State Department and other senior administration officials have told CNN that drafts of a major policy speech on the Middle East, to be delivered by Secretary of State Powell, had been circulating within the State Department for review.

These officials said the speech was to "clarify its [U.S.] views on an end result" of the (MidEast) peace process, which would lead to the eventual "creation of a Palestinian state."

Powell had expected to deliver the speech on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly that began on September 23, but that plan was put on hold after the September 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. A future address to the UN was postponed because security couldn't be guaranteed for UN members. This was not just a coincidence.

"It will go farther than we have ever gone," one official said of Powell's speech. "There is an awful lot more that we view as being the end result than what we have said so far."

One point being hotly debated is whether to "call for ending all settlement activity," including so-called natural growth of existing settlements—something previous U.S. administrations have come close to doing, but have never done.

The same official said that such a speech would be a powerful palliative" to the Arab world. "It eases the pain," the official said. "It would end the perception we only move against Islam."

"We are getting hammered in the Arab world," this official said. "And it is not a mystery that one of the ways to diffuse this" is to see some movement on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Printer friendly version

Seriously, I, too, have a problem with this framing of this issue because it suggests that Christians -- that includes me -- support the nation of Israel and are reasonably supportive of a Jewish nation because there's something in it for us, as in, that we are selfishly motivated in these issues.

God DOES say that the Israelites are His people. He also says that the Israelites are rejecting of Him and His love, certainly of His son, Jesus. But, that that's the trial right there (a huge one, no less). And, in the New Testament, we're told we are all "children of Abraham" who love God and Christ as His only son...

Thus, the mystery of God, no doubt. I think it's best to do what He says or at least to continue to try to figure out what He wants us to do and why.

I am of the perspective in faith, however, that does not assign hardship and disasters to God, but to the evil that affects our world, this human existence, our "fallen world." God allows it such that we grow in faith, but so far, He has withheld his wrath upon the world and from what He says about His wrath, we just have no idea YET how terrible His judgement will be, when He does bring it.

Until then, we are subject to the ongoing harassment of evil in a fallen world, but we have the utmost of helps and that's Jesus Christ and faith in God the Father with the helps of the Holy Spirit. Have faith and never ascribe disasters to God, who is most holy and most completely good.

Well in the case of New Orleans and hurricanes, we knew it was going to happen sooner or later. A city was knowingly built in a location below sea level that is also knowingly hit by hurricanes from time to time. The levee system was built to withstand a category 3 or less hurricane knowing it could be hit by a larger storm. A larger storm hit. It was only a matter of time. People ignored the evacuation order. People died. Not much of a mystery why.

It is as if these people expect God to protect them from poor engineering/choices they made - alter the forces of nature basically - had they only been righteous enough...

I say to them, go prove your righteousness then by building your home on an active volcano. It is only a matter of degree to the difference. To expect anything other than getting burnt to a crisp is pure folly.

Trial by fire can't be far behind in this line of thinking... Whether they see it or not...

"Can you give me a verse where he does, either during, or after Jesus' testament short of his second coming?"

Act 16:26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed. And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

Classic example of an act of nature bringing about fear and repentance. An act of nature by God does not always cause people to repent but in this case it did.

Here is the hand of God in the natural/nature relm:
Mat 27:51-54 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; And the graves were opened...Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.
Some more excellent verses on God using and being directly involved in nature and judgment:
Nah 1:3 The LORD [is] slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit [the wicked]: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds [are] the dust of his feet.

Nah 1:4 He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth.

Nah 1:5 The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein.

Nah 1:6 Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.

Nah 1:7 The LORD [is] good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.

Nah 1:8 But with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies.

So where's the part where Jesus levels a city and kills thousands in retribution for sin?

Second coming, yes. Until then, I don't see where it says that.

What I'm saying is that, as a pastor, when asked about the reasons for the hurricane, the tsunami, or any other natural disaster, I've stopped the spiritualized speculation, and just say the true and "unspiritual" thing - "I don't know".

I respect that.

"Second coming, yes. Until then, I don't see where it says that."

Everything that is important in the Bible is not spelled out in black and white. Often just strongly implied or suggested. For example the doctrine of the Trinity. Or the doctrine of the Rapture. Or holding worship services on Sunday instead of Saturday. We are able to build a strong case for why we believe and practice what we do. The same is true for God allowing or at times even bringing about acts of nature to get our attention. I would not do a Thus saith the Lord on Hurricane Katrina but I would not hesitate to say it could very well be the hand of God. By either allowing it to happen or causing it to happen. I certainly wouldn't disavow God allowing such a thing to happen in a direct way. And I wouldn't put down my brothers for saying they believe it was God's hand. I do agree we have to be circumspect in all we say and do as believers. God Bless and good night.Oh one more thought, what if a second hurricane moved in as a category 5 next time and hit New Orleans again? Would you be any more incline to think it could be the direct hand of God? Perhaps he allowed as many people to get out as he did in his mercy and compassion and than he puts his verily verily and truly truly on the whole matter.

I can say with absolute confidence New Orleans will be hit again, eventially by a category 5.

It will happen. It is only a matter of time.

I thank God for giving us the smarts to build satellites so we can see them coming with more warning.

I wish we had the smarts to forecast earthquakes... One day maybe...

Thanks.

It's certainly clear to me that there's a correlation regardless of it's . . . coarseness.

If God made everything a 1:1 correlation that was 100% of the time 100% obvious, He'd have a ton of 'rice Christians.'

I think He will, in the closing portions of the END TIMES end up being that clear at times and perhaps most of the time.

Until then, I think He deliberately leaves plenty of room for rationalization of the rebels in order to prevent hangers on who don't really have and aren't at all really interested in a heart-felt relationship with Him.

The wise are perceptive and seek God's truth and the aid of Holy Spirit in discerning it, finding it and digging it out.

Thanks for your part in that.

One would have to be pretty gullible to believe the implication of this story, to wit: that if the US hadn't been involved in those political shenanigans, the storms would not have come.

Yes. God is well able and given to individual personal accountability--certainly eventually and ultimately.

For some reason He ALSO TENDS at different periods in history and perhaps regarding Israel, most of the time--to hold families, groups, neighborhoods, communities, cities, nations accountable.

He did it throughout the Old Testament.

He has done it in the modern era.

Partly it can be ascribed to the universal law He has put in place--WE REAP WHAT WE SOW--INDIVIDUALLY,

AND

COLLECTIVELY. Period.

When church attendance rises in a community significantly,

crime goes down quite significantly. It has been so throughout the history of the USA.

I have pondered the issue of individual accountability vs collective accountability a lot over the years. I'm quite convinced that God has HIS PURPOSES for doing it the somewhat coarse wholesale way when He chooses to. He is NOT capricious.

And, I think it is vital to keep in mind some essential facts:

1) The WORST SUFFERINGS OF THIS LIFE are NOT worthy to be compared to the glories of the next. This is true for humans of every age; innocents of every age; earnest Believers of every age. God said it. I believe it.

2) There is ample evidence that in moments of extreme suffering and even dramatic excruciating deaths--God's Spirit and even angelic forces are even more intensely WITH the innocents and Believers. During the Inquisition, saints wished for the torture to continue that they might experience that increased intensity of Christ's PRESENCE.

And, many tales have come forward over the ages of the tortured passing from this life in this or that tragedy being cushioned and comforted, eased by dramatic miraculous intervention from the Heavenly realm.

Essentially, what appears to have been and was a supreme suffering tragedy from the perspective of natural man has routinely been transformed into a glorious graduation on the spiritual plain.

3) Many white-washed folks who consider themselves pristine paragon examples of righteousness are white-washed tombs in God's eyes. Sometimes Only God knows for sure a heart's state and attitude toward Him.

4) We and all Creation exists for God's Glory. We and it are His to spend as He sees fit. As Corrie Ten Boom often illustrated, the underside of the tapestry is an ugly tortured mess. But each twisted convoluted thread produces on the picture side a glorious combinaton, sequence, arrangement.

5) The fact remains--God blesses those who bless Israel and curses those who Curse Israel--individually AND collectively. Eternity will show abundant truth of that. Individuals, families, neighborhoods, communities, cities, nations ignore that at their own great peril.

You see--once upon a time, God had a buddy--Abraham--a great Friend. Talk about Big Brother--God is the ultimate Big Brother. Better not let Him catch you even just speaking ill of His Buddy. He doesn't respond kindly to such suicidal craziness.

Of course, we still have enough free will to tell God He's not doing it right according to our prescription and construction on reality. I'm sure God is similarly impressed with our assessments of Him as He is impressed with the stupidity of going against the apple of His eye.

Can one hear laughter in the halls of Heaven?

As Bill Cosby said long ago in his Noah skit:

NOAH, HOW LONG CAN YOU TREAD WATER?

Taking out a bunch of poor people that literally have nothing to do with Israel as the wrath of God for poor treatment of Israel is simply nuts.

No! It's simply NUTS to believe that God did NOT mean what HE SAID

when HE SAID

HE WOULD BLESS THOSE WHO BLESSED ISRAEL AND CURSE THOSE WHO CURSED ISRAEL.

Which word do you not understand?

Do you think God has changed his mind?
Do you think God has gotten lazy about the issue?
Do you think God has forgotten how to tell the difference between blessing and cursing?
Do you think God has forgotten how to tell the difference between Friends and Enemies?

Do you think God has decided that rebellion against His values and priorities is not that big a deal any more?

Do you think that Shrillery's construction on reality has infected God and that God now calls black, white and white, black; good, evil and evil, good?

Do you think that God is a johnny come lately fan of situation ethics voiding His earlier pronouncements?

Do you think that God's primary goal now is a kind of California Eselan make-everyone-feel-warm-and-gooey-all-the-time-regardless-of-their-deadly-sins-ism?

Do you think God conforming to your image is an improvement on your being conformed to His image?

Evidently you do.

Hint. God disagrees with you.

Hint: God is bigger.

If God didn't require Believers to dig deep truths out with Holy Spirit's help

then deep truths would be cheap chaff along with the rest of reality.

God has many treasures He requires refined perception to apprehend; diligent digging to lay hold of.

Keep at it. It's worth it.

Intimacy with God is the ultimate good.

Also the ultimate pleasure, comfort, peace, joy . . .

Most Believers I know do not believe there are any accidents for the believer which have not first passed through the Cross of Jesus, the Will of The Father.

The tree limb could mean many things. And, sometimes, God keeps His counsel.

It may mean He wanted the wife and kids Home with Him in a more overt, fuller way . . . that their trek here was finished.

It may mean He wanted to protect them from something down the road that would have hindered, corrupted, destroyed their relationship with Him.

It could mean many things.

Who are you to say otherwise?

It strikes me that all those cultures, as far as I recall, were violent and blood thirsty wholesale during their existence or for great periods during their existence.

Some have also been known for horrendous and wide spread corruption.

Some were particularly blood thirsty on a grand scale.

None very well acknowledged nor worshiped The God above all Gods. The Chinese did slightly one time a year. Otherwise, it was tyranny as usual.

But it did not change reaping what we sow.

It did not change His blessing those who bless Israel and cursing those who curse Israel. Revelation is clear enough on that score.
