Thanks to HairOfTheDog for bringing it to FReepers' attention, like me that weren't aware of this program.
Been the "chips and salsa" route. Though, I'm sure they appreciated them, this is so much more important.
I just found out by reading some of the letters that the "lives saved" by virtue of a HH-provided knife is now at least FOUR (4) and even that tally was several months ago. It could be more than that especially since the popularity of this program has grown massively in just the last couple of months.
I'm glad you put that info out here on FR. As a regular FR lurker/poster, I was not aware of what was going on in the HH. I'm glad lists are getting pinged. As a former advertising/TV hack, may I suggest: Buy a knife, Save a life.
Wish I could keep this thread bumped, but I'm outta here for family stuff until 8/6. Night all!
Excellent idea. Thanks for the testimonials and keep up the good work.
We appreciate your help very much!
We're headed to bed soon here, early to bed, early to rise... but we'll try to keep it going over the weekend, and perhaps into monday. I can tell the site is getting a lot of hits, and we appreciate all of them.
Winmag works the late shift, but he'll be along soon to report on anything that came in today!
My pleasure! :~D
The pleasure is mine as well, hehe.
Bump. Hope lots and lots more knives get to soldiers.
I've received notice from PayPal of at least three contributions today. I recognize some as regulars from the Hobbit Hole. Others must be other freepers. Thanks to all of you.
As far as lifesaving goes, the Hobbit Hole has also purchased GMRS radios for troops that asked for them. Also a minor medical miracle called Quikclot, which stops bleeding from large-scale trauma long enough to get a patient to medical attention.
We've also sent other "tools" that troops don't get in the regular "care package" from home, like seatbelt cutters, restraint cutters, and special flashlights.
If there's a need to be met, we'll do our best to meet it. It's just that knives are the Hobbit Hole's bread-and-butter "product".
That quick-clot is miracle stuff, mister Mag. It is a simply amazingly good battlefield medicine tool that saves lives and also limbs that might have been lost in battles past.
Very cool! I knew the Hobbit Hole was supporting some of our troops overseas but didn't know about this project. What a great idea!
I'll be happy to help out. Thanks for the ping!
Reminder bump for the AM! ;-) Popcorn and DVDs are likely welcome but a knife can be a lifesaver. (bump)!
Just sent you an email. Am having problems with the PayPal not taking my credit card info. Any suggestions?
And BTW... my husband checks the email for the HH blog, and he's asleep. (where I would be if I hadn't had one cup of coffee too many today!) So if you sent any other questions there, he'll see it in the morning.

Thanks for the info. I work nights so my days off tend to be inverted from normal people's. I look for a response tonight.
If all else fails with Paypal, if you FRMail 300winmag he'll give you an address to send a check.
We sure appreciate your help, and we don't want to make it a hassle for you!
One of the Marines who recieved knifery from us is due to rotate back in August. WinMag: it's LCPL Gregorio M.
He apparently knows when but can't say due to OPSEC, but plans to visit home in Grand Rapids in September.
(I know his mother from work, and have sent him a couple other things on request.)
Please support our Hobbit Hole Pocket knives for the troops project.
Yep, I know that name. When he gets back, take him out for some drinks. I'll send you some money to pay for a couple of rounds. Call it a Hobbit Hole "unadvertised special".
Absolutely :)
Pinging the Harry Potter ping list!! Not Potter related, but a fabulous and worthy cause.
(I forgot my updated version of the list on my other computer, so if I left anyone off it was not intentional)
Saturday morning bump.
