I ran across this recently and saw it wasn't posted here. I thought it was an interesting rant. I tried to find a genuine link, and the best I could do was on the forums section of Dirk Benedict's website:

And everyone is more lonely and miserable as a result. Except for the bitter, ugly women who foisted feminism on us in the first place, who now have much more company in their loneliness and misery.

I'm not sure if a cigar in the mouth of Stardoe resonates in the same way it did in the mouth of Starbuck. Perhaps. Perhaps it "resonates" more. Perhaps that's the point. I'm not sure. What I am sure of is this
Women are from Venus. Men are from Mars. Hamlet does not scan as Hamletta. Nor does Han Solo as Han Sally. Faceman is not the same as Facewoman. Nor does a Stardoe a Starbuck make. Men hand out cigars. Women `hand out' babies. And thus the world, for thousands of years, has gone round.Dirk's rant hints at some truths. I miss the original show.

Dirk preaches some truth. Look at all the bloody remakes of older movies and TV shows. The problem is that so many of the remakes have the soul sucked out of them.

Ouch! I actually like the new show. It is gritty and dark and the actors actually act. After this article, I will have to reflect on if a show is just a show.

The new show is wonderful and, in fact, they've cast poor 'ol Dirk in a role in which he's actually done well - terrorist-turned-politician Tom Zarek.

Don't hold back, Dirk. Tell us what you really think!
As a fan of the original series, I have to say one thing: It sucked. It really sucked. It was horrible! It was truly bad corporate sci-fi. In fairness, the original series might have been better had cable TV and its gazillion channels been around. The ABC suits smothered whatever life there was in the original.

Funny, but Dirk seemed to be enjoying himself yucking it up with the new Starbuck in the extras on the mini-series DVD.
The DVD was a father's day present. For the sake of completeness and ignorance my kids also got me the DVD of the original Lorne Greene version. As punishment I forced them to watch it and they were howling with laughter by the end. Maybe it's not saying much but I think the new series is the best TV or movie drama I've EVER seen. That being said it wouldn't surprise me if they screw it up before the eventual end.

Sorry, Dirk ool' buddy, but the new Battlestar Galactica is the bext Sci-Fi on television.
Solid writing, solid acting. I'm sorry the same cannot be said for the crapfest that was your series.
