... the district filed a motion on Jan. 31 to dismiss the lawsuit. The district said in the motion that there's no factual evidence to back Williams' claim that his constitutional rights were violated. The motion also countered Williams' argument that he and his lesson plans were singled out for review by Principal Patricia Vidmar because of his religion. The motion stated that parental complaints prompted the actions.

This is not about the school banning the Constitution or about a teacher trying to preach to children. In this you seem to be playing fast and loose with the facts.
As I understand this issue, the school did not want it presented to the school kids that the Constitution is rooted in the religious beliefs of those that wrote it, and writings that showed that those who founded this nation were very religious people.
The teacher tried to introduce the writings of George Washington and other founders that talked about religion.
Can I ask, how is this not teaching history?
Do you know any history scholar that would not include in their studies the writings of great men in history because a particular article contained religious reference?
Again, you have this issue confused. If this were about a teach preaching in class, I would be with you in objecting to this. But that is NOT what is at issue here.

"If branding liberals as being "all the same" Christian hating people is ok, how come it is not ok to assume all conservatives are closed minded gun-owning, children shooting people? ;-)"
I'll tell you what, I've got a little challenge for you. For every documented incident of a proven conservative shooting a child that you can provide I will provide three instances of liberal persecution of Christians. I've been compiling a national case history for better than four years so you better have a bunch of data.
As for the supposed "close minded" attitude of conservatives I'd just tell you that that assertion typifies, and is demonstrative of, an ignorant liberal. If such a proposition is as self-evident as liberals would have us believe then proving such an indictment should be a simple matter. I await your elucidation and illumination.
And putting a smiley face at the end of your statement is not fooling anyone in the least.

I am dismayed that this is viewed as a Right versus Left issue. Since I feel you wondering, I happen to be both a Christian and a Republican, but that shouldn't matter. Over the years I have had to surrender so many of my rights as a parent to the school system, I have to draw the line at them taking over my role in teaching religion to my children. That's my job, not theirs. I offered the eriposte web site because it is the only one I know that actually discusses the "supplemental materials" in a reasonable way. I would love to find a site that didn't insult me along the way, but I haven't yet been successful. Suffice to say that my daughter was taught about the Declaration of Independence and Founding Fathers within their religious context at Stevens Creek. The documents were assigned with the word "God" present in its proper place. All this, and she was never aware what religion her teacher practiced. Everyone is aware what religion Williams' practices. Now, why is that?

Going to Church on Sunday doesn't prove you're a Christian, some of the most Sainted people on Earth don't go every week. Some people just go to Church for status symbol Christianity.....know anyone like that?

We actually have jobs and little time to go "blogging" so on that note and having educated some of you today, off to work I go. When the group seems to show a bit more propensity toward the educated discourse of issues, I shall come back. Until then... Translated...I don't care what your opinion is, I'm know I a smarter than you even though I've only known you for all of five minutes, I'm not going to be able to fool this crowd so I might as well insult them, run and feel good about myself.
To AnotherMom, if you want to debate an issue, then fine. But if you expect everyone to simply swallow your post and agree without examining it, stay the heck out of here. This is a forum for in depth and intellgent discussion of issues.

Speaking of values, did you lie saying a busy elitist such s yourself was leaving?
And instead of being derelict of your Engineering duties and lashing us lowly Freepers are you going to check out that web site of your "friend" and address any of its contents, seeing as how you're a Sunday go to Meeting kinda gal?
Your thoughts on its homosexual Agenda alone, seeing as how we kiss the ground you walk on, will be worth our wait.

It IS a Right VS Left issue as the leftists, communists in reality, don't think anyone has any rights except the party faithful.

By back to work, does that mean your recess is over and you have to get back to teaching kids? Are you a teacher in addition to being another mom?

From their request for dismissal
plaintiffs constitutional claim based on alleged violation of the First Amendment Right to Free Speech fails because public school teachers are mouthpieces for the State, and when the State is the speaker, it may make content-based choices on its speech; furthermore, the principals concern for potential Establishment Clause violations trumps plaintiffs alleged free speech rights;
Hmmmmm

In that case, I say you're dumber than a stump, because anybody but you can recognize the place for what it is, another dime store hippie site.
As Christians are fond of saying, you're known by the company you keep.

Hi Folks,
Another proud hippie liberal newbie pagan commie rat-fink long haired tree hugger Cupertino parent troll here.
As I set up my account just now, I noticed this: "The Free Republic forum is intended for Conservative users who wish to have a serious discussion ...". I'm still looking for that part.
I love JoJo's tag line: "More than two lawyers in any Country constitutes a terrorist organization.". Does this apply to the ADF layers too, JoJo? May I refer to them as the "American Taliban", trying to force us all to live by Islamic, I mean, Evangelical laws? Are all conservatives really Evangelistic Christians too, out to dismantle America's public schools? Are you all so sure the rapture is next week?
Many of you are missing the point: that us parents WANT Williams to have his day in court, and have his terrorist lawyers leave our kids out of the media. If the school was out of line, they SHOULD loose the lawsuit. Same with Williams. But it should happen in court, without threats from Fox News viewers.
If the declaration had really been banned or censored in any way, us parents would have been the first ones to come down on the school. There are laws about what a teacher can do in school. If you don't like the laws then have your boy Dubya CHANGE them. Don't call every school Sean Hannity lies about and harass the staff - it won't help your cause.

BINGO!, boys and girls! JoJo Gunn gets the hippie trash itself to address him.
How's our old pal Kos doing? I just love peacenik hypocrites, don't you, sugah?
