Yes. Very sad. At times in my life and the lives of my family members, the computer has been very important. We've often met with people that we first met online and in fact my mother married a man she met online. However, none of us have EVER exchanged a list of bulletin boards and forums that we want notified in the event of our demise. That's so odd to me.

On www.cycleforums.com we have had members post on the demise of another member almost as soon as they get to a computer. This has happened on several occassions. Of course, srotch rocket riding is a dangerous sport and we are bound by a dangerous pasttime that WILL kill us, so I guess it is different from a strictly political board.

A number of FReepers have died, and a grieving friend or family member posted it. In some cases, the bereaved was already a FReeper, but I recall one daughter in particular who registered herself to announce her father's death to his friends here.

I don't understand the suspicions -- if it's a straightforward story, it's sad, and God rest his soul and comfort his family. In any case, we don't know anything other than what was posted; speculation is fruitless and uncharitable.
