Any recount that is not completed by Dec/7th is not legtimate and has zero effect on the outcome of the Presidency

I was just reading your thread about this http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1295619/posts. It's really a good post, jveritas, and quite useful. I'm still studying the replies to try to get a handle on the issue. What I don't understand is this: if it's only an academic exercise, why is the Green Party paying for it and why did a Federal Judge agree to it. I'll keep checking your thread and see if I can figure it out.

Why did the federal judge approve it (the Ohio recount)

That is the easy question. Because Ohio law permits it even though it means absolutely nothing.

Why did the Greens and Libertarians pay for it

Because they have some seriously brain dead leaders who were ready to throw their contributors money away and didn't understand the timing of the process in Ohio. They did not realize that it would take several weeks to count the provisional votes, at which point it would be too late to have a relevant recount. Now they are just throwing money away and wasting the time of voting officials in Ohio who will have to spend many hours of overtime during the holiday season to do this stupid task.

I consider myself a libertarian but the Party has gone nutso since 9-11.
