These prisoners are the worst of the worst. They are hired 'insurgents' who came to Iraq expressly to KILL American troops. Now, the libs have the Admin cornered and apologizing for not playing nice with the terrorists.

We learned from the 9-11 Commission that THEY [terrorists] declared war on us years ago. We still don't get it, do we. They are at war and we are on Dr. Phil and Oprah's couch. A moral man apologizes because it's the right thing to do, not for any practical gain. I think this administration is showing more character than many of its supporters.

I agree with you on this point. But I don't think Rumsfeld has much of an option but to be publicly contrite for the breakdown of leadership in that military unit. The fact is, the media buzzsaw is roaring, whether we like it or not. He has to pre-empt these calls for resignation by making a very public act of contrition. Otherwise...

I don't for one minute think his one and only message is going to be "Mistreatment of prisoners is wrong and we're sorry it happened, that is not how soldiers are trained".

There is nothing wrong with saying that, as it is true. But it is not ALL he's going to say.

And that is NOT what the dems mean by wanting an apology or Rumsfeld to step down.

What they mean is that the president and Rumsfeld authorized this type of treatment. That is what they mean and the dems will NEVER be able to prove such a vile lie, and they certainly won't be able to extract an admission of such.

People here are not reading this correctly and those upset need to get a grip.
