Thanks for the pings/updates Jaded. I got down to this part
, former business associate Carmen Genovese, that he was simply collecting the images so he could send them to Congress as examples of smut on the Internet
and had mixed feelings..between feeling anger and being ill.

This doesn't surprize me, every person on Texas's death row is innocent too. Just ask them.

I have trouble with that. Just admit you were downloading zipped porn files and be done with it. I do think he is guilty of that. I just don't think he kidnapped and killed her. The rest of what I think about his proclivities would get me banned.

I won't be home for the sentence, but Judge Mudd will stick with the death sentence.
Westerfield will remain safe in isolation, and hopefully will hire someone to dig into this case, IF Brenda and Damon don't succeed in stripping him of all his financial means to hire someone.
His Christmas card to friends was music to my ears.

Not true. In Harris County the ME's Office is the example of what ME's Offices in the rest of the country should be. /so

Thank you for pinging me to yesterday's and today's articles. Is this the thread for today's hearing?
To: Jaded
Jaded all I can say is that if he indeed wins an appeal 10 - 20 yrs from now, I hope it occurs because someone else confesses and has proof, and NOT because the legal system was abused, or because of the rule of law.. (if that makes sense) He'll never be able to over turn the child porn conviction..UNLESS he has proof that prior to his conviction he regularly collected child porn and regularly turned it in to "congress" OR he notified "congress" that he was going to do such things. What is hilarious is that he actually thinks that congress, or the dept of justice doesn't already know what kind of "smut" is out there.

I'm pinging amore cuz she works in the appellate system..would like her opinion too. The possibility of a small percentage of death row inmates being innocent is in my opinion a good argument against the death penalty. But for those who are truly guilty.....by removing the death penalty..would that actually give them a chance at being set free? What are the guarantees of keeping them locked up?

Spec, see you when you get back.
To: cyncooper
Yes, this will be today's thread. I'm sure there will be more articles this weekend. If it makes it easier, if I post them, I'll just attached it to this one. To keep all the sentencing stuff in one place. Does that sound doable?

Doesn't that depend on if the state has Life With Out Parole? We have Life but it's like a 40 year sentence. Death here, is literally death. Sometimes it is commuted to life, but rarely. There is some talk about LWOP.
