It’s not the sort of sentiment that White House chief of staff Susie Wiles would likely share publicly, but according to a report from Time, Donald Trump’s longtime aide has expressed private concerns about the information bubble surrounding the president.
Two White House sources told the magazine that Wiles shared her fears with officials that White House aides were giving the president “a rose-colored view” of how the war with Iran was being perceived domestically, “telling Trump what he wanted to hear instead of what he needed to hear.” The report added that the chief of staff urged colleagues to be “more forthright with the boss” about the political and economic risks.
While MS NOW hasn’t confirmed the reporting, this is very easy to believe. Whether officials intend to follow Wiles’ advice about being more candid, however, is another matter entirely.
The problem is not new. Two weeks into the conflict, The New York Times reported that some administration officials were feeling pessimism about the lack of a clear strategy to finish the war, “but they have been careful not to express that directly to the president, who has repeatedly declared that the military operation is a complete success.”
Soon after, NBC News reported that U.S. military officials were compiling video updates for Trump on the war, filled with footage of explosions. The video montages, the report added, were “fueling concerns among some of Trump’s allies that he may not be receiving — or absorbing — the complete picture of the war.”
The problem, however, is institutional and structural. Wiles may very well like the idea of a White House in which officials are “more forthright with the boss,” but she has helped create an environment in which this does not appear to happen.

MS Now? We’re supposed to believe this? ROTFL!
The usual suspects. RT NOW, unnamed sources, “reports”. Hearsay upon hearsay upon hearsay. But, alas, many Americans have yet to learn that they are being brainwashed and manipulated.
Susie Wiles, self proclaimed Trump Whisperer, close confidant and reputed White House iron fisted primary power broker, neglected to give President Trump the word that the war in Iran was not going well?
Susie Wiles was renown for being the one person who controlled access to President Trump with a tight fist as WH Chief of Staff and it was her primary responsibility for Trump Administration messaging
Ain’t nobody’s fault but his own.
He is the one who decided to start a war and not win it.
The only problem I had was he didn’t take care of it within a month. You should have bombed them into the stone age.
PFFT!!
If there was in information bubble surrounding President Trump, it is because Susie Wiles’ fetid breath inflated it.
As much as I hate MSNow I’ve wondered about this all along.
The war has gone very well. But the politics are horrendous because of gas prices. Since this is more of a skirmish than a war, people don’t expect economic burdens, but they are paying hundreds more a month in gas bills. And Trump not only hasn’t put together a propaganda operation like the Fireside Chats, he has winged it as usual, making his image worse than before he said anything. Reagan’s and Clinton’s good images were artificial creations of what were essentially propaganda units that dictated much of what they said in carefully-rationed public appearances. Meanwhile, Trump just says whatever. A lot of stagecraft went into making Reagan’s and Clinton’s performances seem naturalistic, but they were performances. Trump doesn’t seem to get that amateur hour doesn’t play well with all but the most rabid fans.
