A Portland mayoral candidate has come under fire after it emerged she has had her drivers' license suspended six times over a litany of traffic offenses and missed court dates.
Carmen Rubio was forced to defend her atrocious driving record further after it emerged she recently hit a parked Tesla and walked away without leaving a note.
The incident forms part of a long line of traffic offences over the last 20 years, including 150 tickets and citations, Oregon Live reports.
The progressive candidate has also had her unpaid fines to debt collectors on at least 100 occasions.
Her record was exposed amid anger over an incident at a Portland parking lot last week
Surveillance video from the Tesla obtained by Oregon Live shows Rubio's 2017 Nissan Murano pulling up next to the other vehicle.
Its owners say Rubio scraped their car, causing damage to its bumper and wheel rim.
The clip shows the mayoral hopeful exiting her vehicle after parking and appearing to glance back at the Tesla before continuing on her way.
She told the outlet that she did not think she had caused any damage after examining the car.
'I felt my car bump or lift slightly. Concerned, I checked for damage to the neighboring car, a Tesla. Seeing none, I went to my appointment,' Rubio said.
But in a recorded conversation with the Tesla's owners, Rubio blamed her actions on stress due to the election.
'I can't tell you how humiliated I am and I'm really sorry,' she said. 'I feel very embarrassed that during one of the worst weeks of my career, I was careless enough to be flustered and not paying as close attention as I should have been.
Believe me, I feel worthless right now.

I have stress so it’s OK!
I was in a hurry so my time is more important…
my gold fish died and I’m in mourning for the death….
you do not understand that I’m running for an important government leadership position where I have to make sure people are held responsible for their actions!
“”acts like laws do not apply””
Gee, there’s news!
Without a conscience or a soul, ANYTHING is possible.
As Dan Bongino often points out, it is not hypocrisy. It is hierarchy.
Rules, regulations and laws are for ‘others.’
It certainly appears the laws do not apply to her.
“… It certainly appears the laws do not apply to her.…”
The law of gravity rest heavily upon her shoulders.
The law of gravity still certainly seems to apply....

If you don’t like my driving then stay off the sidewalks.
Per the National Highway Traffic Safety (NHTSA)’s 2021 Traffic Safety Facts report, unlicensed drivers accounted for almost 11,000 fatal crashes. Of those fatal crashes: 31.8% of drivers had previous license suspensions or revocations. 17.2% of drivers had previous collisions.”

That license plate is like a rash all over the computer.
She feeeeeeels bad. I guess it’s OK then. 🙄
Green Peace is going to need a rental from Maersk to get that back into the ocean...
Maybe she’s just practicing up for when she actually gets voted in as mayor & can get away with “certain things”.
What a blow-pig
Maybe she’ll just use a limo. Former mayor Vera Katz couldn’t drive...apparently didn’t know how. So, she had a driver.
She’s a liar.
So a typical democrat....

In my day it was called a cab
When you’re a bigshot, that simply will not do.
