It is nonsense like this that makes it understandable why the South wanted to secede.
Who in their right mind wants someone like that to bear rule over them?
An MA@@hole of that day— Sumner of MA was the recipient of needed bashing. and yeah, he did milk it. More self righteous than even the ultimate Radical Republican Leader, Thaddeus Stevens, whom many of that day (since Stevens believed the Lincoln would abandon Emancipation, the minute the war ended, and thus drove the Reconstruction politics post Lincoln’s murder) that Stanton and Stevens made the unbelievable possible. Lincoln had no intention of the kind of punitive Reconstruction— as he told Grant “Let ‘em down easy”. The entire continuous meme of the Progressives and Marxists is the perpetuation of the divisions and wounds that were healed more than 100 years ago. It now serves the Left’s agenda to abandon the very Constitution which preserved our Union. Imagine the pretzel logic (tactical and strategic) that a Marxist mind would find useful to tear down all that generations fought to preserve, here and around the world. Hunt the Marxists, and all of their friends— expose them.
