Megan Rapinoe, one of the most outspoken as well as decorated members of the U.S. women’s national soccer team, is under scrutiny and even facing cancelation calls after a decade-old tweet of hers was unearthed.
The tweet, still up on Monday morning despite the backlash surrounding it, was directed at fellow soccer player Natasha Kai, who is Asian.
“u look asian with those closed eyes!” Rapinoe wrote in May of 2011 in response to a now-deleted tweet.
Some on Twitter saw the tweet as mocking Kai and being hypocritical given Rapinoe’s advocacy. In addition to being one of the highest-profile American LGBTQIA athletes, Rapinoe’s current Twitter avatar is a Black Lives Matter logo.

I see nothing wrong with this. East Asians do have slanted eyes thanks to evolution, just as folks close to the equator evolved to have darker skin.
And Megan has her new career as a Victoria’s Secret model starting soon. Is she going to actually model the lingerie, or just be the public face of that company’s ads?

So her bigotry in the old tweet was, as bigots often do, her use of a truth, “Asian eyes”, in a pejorative sense.
[Myself, I found it fine to admire “Asian eyes” and find them very attractive.]
But, her tweet was no different than in anger saying “your black ass” to some African-American person.
And yes, bigotry is used as a way to bully others and as history shows it often depends on what form of bullying is considered culturally O.K. at any given time and place. Currently devout Christians are the easiest targets bullies can direct their attention to and get away with it.
I read that Victoria Secret is getting rid of the gorgeous ANGELS and have hired this hideous thing to be a spokesperson. Oh, and a trans woman with a wienie, unless he had it hacked off. THESE PEOPLE ARE INSANE.

That tweet is an interesting observation. Turns out the woke mob has huge character flaws like the rest of us. In the back of my mind, I suspected this was so all along, else they would not be trying exert overbearing power over people whose views they don’t like.
My observation of the woke mob is that they are typically morally inferior to those they try to lecture and cancel.
