[Update: Video Posted] July 28, 2012
It has not been very easy to find out what has been happening with the Pirelli High Schools cold fusion reactor (named the Athanor) which was introduced earlier this year at least English language sources discussing it have been hard to find. A comment today from Ugo Abundo, the professor who leads the research, on pass22.blogspot.com indicates that there has been considerable work going on with the project, and its now to the point where the second generation reactor the Hydrotron has been launched.
Abundo writes: Today we assembled and turned on for the first time Hydrotron, the post school heir of Athanor, faithfully replicating its predecessors inspiring principles, but reinterpreting them towards a simplification of both design and operation in order to make measurements easier, main purpose around which its been built. It will therefore become easier for us to validate the principles on which the Anathor design was based on, over which there are ongoing efforts toward difficult measurements according to the common protocol [we've agreed to, as you know].
As soon as well have some free time well send Daniele (who will be able to publish it if he will find it interesting) a photo comparison between Athanor and Hydrotron, and the live file of todays first ignition. The new reactor kept working continuously for about an hour. The reason for turning it off? It was boringly stable and we wanted to go back home. Have we taken measurements? Not yet, we expect to make some experience with Athanors [testing] protocol first, which will obviously be transferable to Hydrotron. But do we already have first impressions? The same youll have yourself after watching the video (so that nobody will hammer at us ). All the best. Ugo Abundo
From what Abundo wrote it seems that he has sent photographs comparing the Anathor and Hydrotron which may be published soon. They are not recording or reporting any measurements the reason being, it seems, is that they want replicators to do that work. The whole idea behind the Pirelli project is that the plans of the reactor are made public so anyone with an interest can build a reactor and test it themselves.
UPDATE: Here is the video of the Hydrotron:
If anyone reading here is involved in replication it would be nice to hear how things are going
The basic rule is NO antagonism is allowed, from either side.
Here’s the thread where the ‘scientism’ tag is being hashed out.

Scientism would have to be YOUR religion to tag it as a “Scientism Caucus” and the article and replies could not speak for any non-Scientism believers.
However, you could tag the RF Scientism thread as “[ecumenical]” and anyone could post but they must not be antagonistic.

The Cold Fusion/LENR Ping List
Here’s a new way to discuss LENR topics. No Antagonism is allowed.

High School kids who have replicated a cold fusion cell.
Look for a tragedy to happen in that school that conveniently causes the studends and teacher involved to go away....

I believe the original plans for Athanor were released to the public, and they were themselves based upon public information.

Someone please wake me when they release the plans to the public.

Youre right.
Heres a link: http://www.e-catworld.com/2012/04/english-translation-of-build-instructions-for-pirelli-athanor-cell/
Its written in something that closely resembled English - apparently translated from Italian.

Excess energy produced is not evidence of a nuclear reaction.
***That would be fine by me if all these LENR experiments were just some new kind of efficient battery. No NRC involvement.

Thank you all for the polite scientific discussion in the earlier thread.
I found this confusing, and figured I would see a series of responses in the vein of bunnies, pancakes and stuned beebers.
When I see “ecumenical”, “hydrotron”, “Athanor” and “scientism” I wonder if discussion of Thetans and planet Kolob can be far behind.
So is this new thread by Kevmo what you had in mind to allow?
In my original post I said that the device should be taken apart and analyzed after it has worked for a while to see if there have been changes in which elements are there or isotopes of elements. If those have changed that is evidence of a nuclear reaction of some type. On the other hand if only chemical compounds made from the same elements have changed, then it is purely a chemical reaction and it might just be the world's most expensive "potato" battery.
It would not qualify for a Religion Forum caucus or ecumenical thread."
Yet what is the first thread to be put up under the ecumenical tag, but one narrowly related to LENR?
Please remove the tag, and/or move this thread to some other category, if not delete.
I ask this not based upon animus towards the subject matter itself, but as to interest of having the spirit of forum guidelines respected.
I thought high schools had teachers, not professors. Is this another case of cold fusion credential inflation?
He's referred to as a high school teacher here.

Religion Moderators guidelines now updated:
http://www.freerepublic.com/~religionmoderator/
What qualifies as a religion on the Religion Forum.
Neither atheism nor scientism will be considered a religion. Among other things, that means atheists and those who believe in scientism will not be allowed to use Religion Forum tags such as caucus or ecumenical to prevent antagonism or rebuttal.
Freepers who are atheist or believe in scientism and post on the Religion Forum will be protected from ad hominem attacks just like any other Freeper.
