I agree. My son had his SSN stolen four times, and had a lot of trouble clearing it up. In southern Arizona, when you walk into an Emergency Room, you rarely hear a word of English.
Also, I adopted two kids from the Philippines, and spent years and a ton of time getting their paperwork thru the INS. In addition to many personal interviews, I ended up filing over 300 pages of documents - more than I would have thought existed on such subjects! I fail to see why Filipinos or Chinese can’t come, while any Mexican can - other than we refuse to secure the border.
My son ended up marrying a girl from the Philippines. She is staying with us while he does a tour in Afghanistan. After 2 years of marriage, she is paying a $590 filing fee...not as a fine, and not for citizenship, but to convert her status over to a permanent alien. That change should be official by the time my son finishes his tour - but she still won’t be a citizen. There are YEARS ahead for that!
But if she were Mexican, she could just enter illegally and wait for amnesty...
