I know what you mean but I have to agree with someone else - I don’t know if I would have found him as intriguing if someone besides Rickman was playing him.

I don’t know if I would have found him as intriguing if someone besides Rickman was playing him. I can't imagine anyone doing a better Snape than Rickman does in the movies. The Mary Grand Pre illustrations of Snape look like a Snidely Whiplash character to me.
