Great comment! I couldn't agree w/ you more. It is about time that the mucky mucks hit their own coffers.
That was brilliant. They are forcing smokers to stay home & pay minimal taxes on entertainment-GOOD ONE GUYS
I smoke & enjoy the odd pull of the handle, as bad as that is, however it seems to me that last time I checked the only people profiting from VLTs is Govn. & Bar/casino owners.
Govn. takes 80% while the rest is divided between maintenance (gov.workers), rental, space & owners profits.
I have yet to see the kickbacks from the Govn from any of these taxes. But I open the paper, watch the news & usually there is some dimwit in office touring the world to see what flowers are in Timbuktu & yada yada yada.

C'mon now. LOL.
I'm a Canuck & think the laws are stupid. It infringes on our freedoms. To force all the businesses to comply is just wrong. Maybe to mix things up they could have offered incentives to businesses to open non smoking facilities for workers to have a "safe environment".
Also the morons in charge (remember it is mostly seniors who actually show up to vote) never even considered with our labor market shortage that businesses will be forced to close even sooner.
I am just thankful that I am from Alberta (province ha ha) and we don't bend as quickly or readily as others. We will be publicly smoke free in 2007.
BTW when 911 struck, It was that area of Canada that hosted all the displaced passengers with open arms. (okay mabe we are lovable hippies eh?)

"ping" is when you want to alert another freeper about an article. In the "To" field, you type in their name. In the "Reply" field, you type "ping". They receive the ping to the thread and join you in the discussion.
