by 1862 virtually ALL the CS military (less the previously mentioned "mostly coloured regiments" from AL,LA & MS) was DESEGREGATED, at least down to "regimental level".

the US forces partially desegregated during the waning days of WW2.

the CSMC was completely desegregated by Jan 1862 to separate detachment/company level. the USMC finally accepted the first Black marines in 1944 & finally desegregated AFTER WW2!

Well sure. They couldn't very well put all those cooks and teamsters and servants and laborers in separate units by themselves, could they? Who would slop the mules and wash the mess if they did?
