Okay. Here you go. McClellan's "cunning plan" was actually two plans. He didn't present them to Lincoln, he presented them to Winfield Scott, who was still commanding general of the United States Army at that point. Scott listened politely, told McClellan that they were interesting, but then pointed out that logistical impossibility of both of them. By the way, both of them involved invading the south and destroying her armies.

Furthermore, Lincoln never said that he wanted to "bring the south to her knees." If you've got some evidence of him saying such, please show us. I'm sure historians (and historical fiction writers) would be interested.

Well, I guess that since you were with him 24/7 from his first inauguration to his early demise via lead poisoning that you would certainly know everything he said or everything that he didn't say.
