In fact "gay" has become a slang word (as an adjective) akin to stupid.

I grew up in the 1980s in eastern Massachusetts, and we used the word "gay" to mean, more or less, "lame."

Yes, that too. Around here it means that and just plain "stupid." I kind of hate that it doesn't mean "happy" any more. It makes me wonder if we're going to ban "Deck the Halls" someday because of "Don we now our gay apparel." hehe
