Tookie And Moses (Joseph Farah Slams NAACLP's Analogy Of Biblical Hero To Quadruple Murderer Alert)
Worldnetdaily.com ^ | 11/05/05 | Joseph Farah

This just in from the "what-can-you-say?" department.

The rhetoric being delivered by the moral reprobates trying to save from execution next week Stanley "Tookie" Williams, the California quadruple murderer and founder of the Crips street gang, is getting even more overheated, hysterical and irrational.

In calling for clemency for the monster who should serve as a walking, talking billboard for capital punishment, Jamal Watkins, western regional director for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, compared Williams to Moses.

I'm not kidding. Moses!

What do Williams and Moses have in common?

According to Watkins, Moses, too, was "found guilty of committing a murder himself. But through rehabilitation, he was able to lead the Israelites out."

Moses was found guilty of committing a murder? No.

Moses killed an Egyptian slavemaster who was abusing a Hebrew slave. Most people have considered through history that this was a righteous act. There were no charges brought against Moses, who fled from Egypt. There was no trial, no conviction.

He did not go through "rehabilitation." He had a personal encounter with God, which brought him back to Egypt to lead the children of Israel to the Promised Land.

Has this guy ever read the Bible?

Does he really wish to compare the cold-blooded murderer of two defenseless elderly Taiwanese immigrants, their daughter and a 26-year-old man offering no resistance in two separate robberies over a period of 11 days with Moses?

"Tookie" Williams is that cold-blooded murderer – and even worse. He is an evil moral reprobate, human scum, a cancer within the human race that needs to be surgically removed.

He not only killed four innocent people, he seemed to enjoy it. He boasted about the killings to his friends. The wantonness of his actions revolted even his accomplices.

When the Los Angeles jury convicted him of his crimes, he threatened to kill all of them. While he awaited trial in the L.A. County Jail, he plotted an escape that involved killing other inmates and police officers. He also plotted killing one of his accomplices when he got out, according to his own handwritten notes.

Far from rehabilitating himself, as his groupies suggest, he faced 11 separate discipline actions in prison for serious offenses including throwing chemicals in the faces of two guards.

His notable accomplishment, for which he was inexplicably nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, was writing two books about kids and gangs that no one read! He steadfastly refused to renounce his gang activities or cooperate with authorities in debriefings about the street life.

My fear is that while celebrities and the NAACP are championing the cause of "Tookie" Williams like he is come sort of heroic figure, most Americans, even most Californians, I dare say, really don't know the truth. There's a hearing set in California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's office tomorrow to review the clemency bid. While the stars and the professional agitators are whooping it up for "Tookie," Americans, by and large, are unfamiliar with the incredible facts of the case. No one is mentioning his victims! You get the impression from media coverage that it is this homicidal maniac who is the real victim.

But perhaps we owe a debt of gratitude to the fellow from the NAACP. By comparing "Tookie" Williams with Moses, he has managed better than I ever could to show his own moral relativism, to discredit his own organization, to shame anyone and everyone who has embraced this cause to save the life of this hideous, murderous miscreant.

Yes, "Tookie" deserves to die all right. In fact, lethal injection is too good for him. He should be drawn and quartered. He should be hanged. He should be shot like his victims were – in the back. He should be electrocuted during one of California's famous brownouts. But I'm sure we'll all settle for execution Dec. 13.

Meanwhile, every Christian and Jew who has supported the NAACP needs to re-evaluate that support in light of the flippant, ignorant statements of its western regional director comparing "Tookie" Williams to Moses.

Took 12 posts before someone finally bashed Joseph Farah.

Bashing? Look: first of all, in five years on this site, I've never posted about the relative standing of WND. Second, Farah routinely touts his Christianity (so much for "let your light so shine" and "not every man who sayeth unto me Lord, Lord"). Advocating vengeance is in antipathy to Christ's teachings. Third, the stridency of his comments is destructive to enlisting support of conservative ideas.

If you call holding a Christian newspaper editorialist to his own professed standards, "bashing," you need to get a life of your own.

"Also, Moses wasn’t “rehabilitated” and completely forgiven. He was not allowed to enter the Holy Land – in effect, God executed (allowed Moses to die) him before the Israelites entered."

He wasn't allowed into the Holy Land because Moses out of angry pique and prideful arrogance towards the faithlessness of Israel struck the rock for water with his rod when God wanted Moses to "speak" to the Rock! God there-fore disciplined Moses by forbidding him entry into Israel. The account furhter explains that when Moses died, God himself buried his body in a valley of which "no man knew until this day".

This had a practical effect of no one being able to use the grave of Moses as an Idolatrous shrine. Also, I get the sense from this particular story that God had wanted to move Moses away from simply using a physical device to "transmit" Gods power, but rather move him into a more Christ like mode of "speaking" God's will into being. My own speculation has me suspecting that had Moses absorbed that lesson, then when Israel was ready to enter into Israel, Moses would have had Israel walking over and ON the river Jordan. Instead, Joshua divides the river the same way he had seen Moses divide the red sea.

As for Tookie, let justice be done. I hope he has found the Lord, and I'm glad he at least has attempted to disuade children from the gang life style. I think now the greatest service he can do for the children would be to accept just punishment to impress upon the little ones just what happens when you trangress the laws.

I was over the top too. Then it again sometimes inflicting cruelty, harsh cruelty on murderers might deter others from considering committing the ultimate crime. Think of the lives it could save.

Over the top, Joe. "Vengeance is mine, said the Lord." While there is a legitimate purpose in maintaining the death penalty, inflicting pain and suffering in the process is no measure of moral purpose and destructive to civility.

You and Lord have your opinions, but I am closer to Joe. (Well, actually, I believe the Lord left us a more ambiguous commentary which you are using selectively to claim Him on your side.)

Anyway, I don't quite subscribe to prolonged, deliberate torture, but I do support a more traditional execution method for such cases. Hanging appeals to me. Men with already ruined lives can go to the easy death of the needle with cocky resignation. Hanging is a little terrifying. It not only executes, it jumpstarts the stunted moral imagination of the murder. It gives them something to think about. It gets their attention. Í would like to see Tookie hang.

I predict that Fundamentalist Blacks will continue to support the NAACP, continue to support radical Black spokesmen, and continue to vote for radical Leftist politicians. For some reason Black Fundamentalism simply disappears in the radicalism.

I don't know what it is. For some reason despite all the Fundamentalist Black masses no Fundamentalist leader ever arises from the Black community. I suspect if a snake handling minister from the Mississippi Delta were elected to Congress he would instantly morph into a radical intellectual witha Ph.D. and a longtime friendship with Fidel Castro (mach shemo).

I don't know how to explain it and I don't like it. But that's the way it is and I'm afraid that's the way it's going to be for a long, long time.

California really needs to take a look at its capital case appeals process, why is it this state takes longer than most states to carry out an execution? There are now over 600 on California death row and the number increases far faster than the number of executions. The Tookie case was decided well over 20 years ago. Cut the number of appeals and carry out executions, or eliminate the death penalty entirely in this state because being a blue state they are probably opposed to the death penalty anyways.
Now as far as the Moses analysis. It does not pass the smell test, but neither did John Kerry's Genghis Kahn speech. So draw your own conclusions of those who would let Tookie live.

Precisely my point.

A quick, clean hanging satisfies my sense of justice (although I admit that in some cases I would be secretly less fastidious than you about the hangman's competence. You're just a little better person than me.)

Bring The Chair out of retirement, take his picture as the smoke is rising from his head. It would make a good anti-gang poster.

I wonder if Farah got the wrong Moses.

On a thread the other day, people were discussing the "President's Call to Service Award" that Tookie was awarded. He was nominated for that award by "William Harrison, an archbishop in the Old Catholic Orthodox Church in West Monroe, La." In looking up the Church, I found it also went by alternative names, including "Cathedral of St. Moses the Black."

According to various sources on the web, St. Moses the Black (aka St. Moses the Ethiopian) "was a former gang leader, murderer, and thief in ancient Africa. However, he became a model of transformation. His is one of the most inspiring stories among the African saints.... Today he is considered the patron saint of African Americans."

"Meanwhile, every Christian and Jew who has supported the NAACP.."

Every Christian and Jew should also examine the political posturing of their own religion.

There are many liberal religious sects that oppose the death penalty on principle and oppose executing this butcher.

People should vote with their dollars and maybe more religions will stop trying to teach politics and get back to teaching individual morality.

I think Tookie is fortunate that he only has to face a lethal injection. His victims died by close-range shotgun blasts.

Exactly.

It is time to recall exactly what Tookie did to get sentenced to death.

In 1979 "Tookie" murdered four innocent, defenseless people with a sawed-off shotgun at point blank range. During his first murder he ordered a 7-eleven store clerk into the back room and told him to "lie face down on the floor you mother----er." He then walked over to this young man and shot him in the back at contact range with the shotgun. The rush of blood into the victims lungs and throat made a horrible gurgling sound and the man struggled to breathe. "Tookie" then fired another killing round into the man's back -- again at contact range. Later that evening he bragged about the murder and laughed while recalling the agony, gurgling sounds and the desperate gasping of the victim.

Eleven days later "Tookie" broke into a small motel at 5:30 in the morning. When confronted by the owner he shot the man point blank in the face with the same shotgun. He broke into the owners' bedroom and shot and murdered his wife at point blank range with the shotgun. When their daughter came running to their rescue he shot and brutally killed their only daughter with the same powerful shotgun. Then he calmly raided the cash register and drove away with a hundred dollars -- the only receipts for the evening.

"Tookie" was convicted of murder and sentenced to death for these wanton, brutal acts of murder. During the sentencing phase of his trial he looked over to the jury and mouthed "I will get everyone of you mother----ers."

This heroic jury did not flinch. They at great personal risk to themselves and their families meted out a "guilty" verdict even though the leader of the most notorious gang in America with thousands of gang members to do his bidding threatened to ..."get everyone of you mother----ers."

Tookie Williams has never been remorseful, he has never apologized to the families of his victims, he refuses to accept responsibility for his actions. He still claims to be an innocent man, framed and convicted by an all white jury. This is a blatant lie that Tookie Williams repeated last week on the MSNBC Rita Crosby interview. (There was a black and a latino on the jury.) The jury members still live in fear of this wanton, unrepentant monster. It is time for this man to quit threatening society.

Tookie is not a victim. The real victims are like that freckled-face young man, with a ready smile for everyone, working at that 7-eleven store when Tookie Williams walked in 26 years ago. Tookie Williams smote the life out of that young man and his mother has been gasping for closure ever since. She has been horribly injured, her pain is too great to bear, the cuts to her heart are too deep, and her wounds will never heal.
