"Perhaps the punishment of Weakland..."

That was part of the irony - Weakland was not punished! JPII REFUSED his resignation at first, and then he was ALLOWED to retire. If you can find a declaration of schism or excommunication of Weakland I would like to see it. His payoff of his lover as we know was the tip of the iceburg, yet as far as I know he never received ANY canonical punishment.

"Your screenname is new (6/8/04). What names have you used here previously or simultaneously?"

I have never posted before June, nor do I have any other screennames.

"Is the pope Catholic? Do you accept his authority and submit to him in obedience as Vicar of Christ on Earth?"

I believe the pope is Catholic and I submit to him as I am obligated to do, just as I do my bishop. I will defend the pope when he is unjustly accused., just like I would defend those who attack Pius XII as "Hitler's pope". But I will not blindly obey my bishop who prays with Protestants on St. Patrick's day and protects homo/pedophile priests, one of whom was at my local parish.

Again, Paul VI and JPII that I quoted regarding apostasy would not qualify if they were speaking of SSPX. Apostasy is a falling away from the faith, to no longer believe in what it teaches. Now Paul VI said it had infiltrated the Church to a large extent, even unto the highest levels - this could not be the SSPX in the 70's or today as you well know. And if JPII did declare the SSPX were schismatic, they could not be part of the "silent apostasy" in the Church he described. So the revolution that is apostasizing that the popes described must be the NO clergy. And you are going to follow these clergy, right or wrong? According to your own qualifications, I must conclude you will be schismatic if you don't obey your clergy right or wrong. This will make you part and parcel of the revolution. Am I wrong?

As you well know, you are wrong. I follow the earthly leadership of John Paul II, the Vicar of Jesus Christ on Earth rather than following dead and excommunicated Marcel, Marcel's living but excommunicated heirs or belonging to Marcel's ridiculously pretentious schism.

You are right in one thing. JP II in speaking of "silent apostasy" was obviously not speaking of Marcel's nervy little schism which is silent about as often as it is obedient to the Holy Father. Noisy nuisance/noisy apostasy/relentless pope-bashing schism: certainly on all three counts. Catholic never.

We will pray that your diocese and your parish be delivered from such irresponsibles as those of whom you complain but the answer is not the Lefebvrite schism or any other. Christ's promises to His Church are still good.

My pastor does not have the full power of the keys only what is delegated. Even my saintly bishop Thomas Doran does not have the full power of the keys. JP II has the power of the keys and no one need fear following him instead of following dead and excommunicated Marcel the Defiant and Disobedient.

If your circumstances ecclesiastically are as bad as you indicate (and who can doubt that AmChurch has victimized your diocese and its faithful Catholics), Rockford, Illinois is a very sound diocese and Doran a terrific bishop. If your station in life allows, move here, enjoy twice daily Tridentine Masses at St. Mary's Oratory, Tridentine everything in terms of sacraments, presided over by a priest of the all-Tridentine Institute of Christ the King Sovereign priest or attend early Sunday Tridentinme Masses at St. Patrick's, also in Rockford, with first rate and hard core diocesan priests who preside over that otherwise NO parish. There are no lavender Louies tolerated in this diocese. One priest has been charged during Doran's tenure. He was accused and pled guilty in criminal court to criminally touching two teenaged girls at a Catholic High School where he had been vice principal. He was suspended as a priest by Doran almost before that priest knew he was arrested. TAN Books and Publishers, as good a Catholic publisher as exists, is headquartered in Rockford.

If you cannot move, then you cannot but we moved a thousand miles to get here to live in Doran's diocese. It was worth it for the kids.

I was suggesting that God might punish both Weakland and Marcel by making them roommates in an overheated afterlife.

The schism that Paul VI and John Paul II described as "silent apostasy" might be the Thuc line or many other schisms less noisy than Marcel's parrots. It may also be the apostasy described to four young girls in purported apparitions of the BVM at Garabandel, Spain (never approved by ecclesiastical authority) in the early 1960s that claimed that the worst problem facing the Church is that of "faithless priests leading their flocks intentionally to perdition."

Finally, even in Rockford, my clergy is not clothed with ultimate earthly authority as is my pope and, if you are Catholic, your pope.
