context ma - we were talking about profoundly retarded persons who love Christ - not other non handicapped cognitive folk who worship elephants and have rejected Christ context

Rev can you show me anywhere in scripture where Jesus said any group is exempt from having faith in the Jesus of the Bible for salvation ?

Were we ever exempted from preaching the gospel to the children or the retarded?

YOU and I have a call to share the gospel with all men regardless of their IQ. That is because they will stand in judgment too.

It is the grace of God that opens ears and eyes. God can open their understanding (that is not our job) Our "job " is to be obedient and give the word in season and out of season .

To exempt the retarded or mentally ill or the comatose from the gospel is an unthinkable sin.

We can not know how much the understand , that is Gods to know .

I would give the gospel to comatose patients , because I did not know what they could hear and understand..and then leave the rest up to to the Holy Spirit who leads us into all truth .

The only reason one would avoid that responsibility is their pride or their discomfort.

Thanks, my friend, but it is o.k. I've met a lot of people in the past 40 years, but never anything quite like this. It is amazing how we who call ourselves followers of Jesus Christ can be like this. God's grace is sufficient. Pray for them.

And when you're finally broken down and need to be built back up, they'll be the first to help.

If I am aware that someone is clearly an unbeliever, then it is my duty to preach them the gospel. Despite what you may have been taught, the church is not the place to come to get saved. The sanctuary is not supposed to be the mission field.

Is THAT why we have a little signs at the bottom of the driveways to our church that read, "You are now entering the mission field"? Well, blow me down.

Maybe you've just never had to account for your statements before, Vern.

There's no abuse here. There are only questions regarding your own words. Just like everyone's words are open to inspection and criticism.

If that's uncomfortable, either don't post, don't care or rethink your position.

Same as every person here.

glad to have us leave

There's definitely a yes and a no involved in that. Sometimes it's a hard choice.

Waste your breath my friend, but your "taking me to task" as you call it simply reveals your attitude. I feel very sorry for you.

I would not consider that a worship service. And yes, the presence of the Muslim cleric was out of line politically as well as...what's the word...not "theologically"...well sorta but you know what I m

I am going to jump in here , because I considered the service unscriptural and more a sin.

The Bible tells us we should not let a false teacher into our home.

We are not to give approval to their false beliefs and false God by pretending that their is no difference in the God we worship and that was the INTENDED message that day. It was all political and not about God at all .

What FELLOWSHIP has light with darkness we are asked..this was far more than fellowship , it was the stamp of approval on Allah as a legitimate god

the church is not the place to get saved....."signs - 'You are entering the mission field.' blow me down"

Your mistaken notion was not shared by the Apostle Paul

1 Co 14: 23So if the whole church comes together and everyone speaks in tongues, and some who do not understand[7] or some unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your mind? 24But if an unbeliever or someone who does not understand[8] comes in while everybody is prophesying, he will be convinced by all that he is a sinner and will be judged by all, 25and the secrets of his heart will be laid bare. So he will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, "God is really among you!"

Let the one who thinks she stands, take heed lest she fall.

Yes, we understand no one gets saved in a Calvinist Church.

Would you walk out of Cubs game if a Muslim gave the invocation and Mormon sang the National Anthem?

Don't even start tryin' to tell us you don't worship the Cubbies.

The UMC says that mormon is not Christian.

I agree with snerk on this one Vern. The documents are clear.

In fact, like they say, the mormons don't consider themselves apostolic.
